What part of “the offense isn’t perfect but IS SHOWING improvement and given that they are all relatively young as starters, missing plays here and there is understandable”.

Yes, the defense is relatively young too. The difference is, they aren’t showing improvement and aren’t showing moments of greatness like the offense is.

This offense, with a year under them, will be ready to compete next year if they keep improving on a few things. I unfortunately can’t say the same about this defense. They look completely lost out there and seem to be showing minimum effort to get better. With the talent that’s on that defense, that tells me we have a coaching problem.

41 points, 400 yards passing. While it doesn’t appear to be creative like other offenses, it’s not our most pressing need for the team or even offense.

Here’s some Facts (I know everyone hates facts).

LSU is #73 out of 76 teams nationally in 3rd down conversions.

LSU was 5/17 against MSU 29%
LSU was 4/12 against Vandy 33%
LSU was 0/10 against MO 0%

These 3rd down conversion stats are Against arguably the 3 worst teams in the conference.

I’d say there is a serious problem with the offense. And.... guess what, that problem is costing us W’s. It ain’t just the defense.

Linehan and Ensminger are doing the best they can with a weak OL and it’s having a serious effect on playcalling . Not only can they not control the line of scrimmage in the run game, LSU had had to resort to a significant amount of planned roll outs to give Brennan time. Unfortunately, that shrinks the field for the secondary.

I’m just saying there are concerning things with the offense as well. Obviously the defense is MUCH MORE of a concern at this point.

The OL issues are a direct result of not having much practice time together and replacing so many starters. Even the lone returning starter, Deculus, is pretty average.

People want to freak out about the symptoms without looking at what the actual problem is.

What self respecting, competent offensive coordinator needs someone else calling 3 rd downs and red zone plays for him?

I don't get this split play-calling scheme; I'd like to sit in on both offense and defense game-planning sessions.
