Is there anything that can be done to fix the crime issue in New Orleans?

I’m somewhat talking hypothetically here because as long they keep electing brain dead mayors over there then absolutely nothing will change.
But let’s just say that they get a competent Person in power. What would he have to do to make New Orleans great again?

For starters, ask black people to stop killing other black people.
Statistically speaking, black on black violent crime is the biggest challenge New Orleans faces in terms of its reputation and providing safety to its citizens that reside there and tourists that come to town.
Of course, no politician in a position of leadership will make mention of this, especially if the politician is not a black person for fear of retaliation by the media and/or peaceful protestors.

It doesn't ALL fall on the mayor. Yes, there are things the mayor can do to support law enforcement and speed up the court process and incarceration, but this starts with the community. Some communities are in very bad shape and getting worse. Crime will always be bad in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, even if they elect the next Ronald Reagan for mayor.
It's a culture problem that we joke about on here, but it's real and getting worse every year. I have no solutions at this point. You can save individuals through things like Big Brother programs and mentorship, but their mother needs to not sleep with deadbeats and value their education and get them to those programs. That's the part I don't think a fix is possible for.
