Dryer crapped out this weekend and washer cant be far behind. My last two sets have been Whirlpool, prior to that it was whatever I could get on the cheap in college and beyond. My first set lasted around 20 years, which or course made me go with Whirlpool again, but it’s been just 11 years and done, so I’m questioning their reliability these days. Any suggestions, personal experience, etc?

Are you looking for front load and stackable or no? I ask because I just grabbed an LG set that was both front load and stackable and really like it.

Why must it be front load? Front load washers are hot garbage.

I’m not going to stack but yeah, and I was just looking at LG for roughly 1300.00, which seamed a little inexpensive for the set.

If you want your clothes and washer to constantly smell like mildew, then get a front loader. Otherwise go conventional.

You just leave the door cracked open and run the cleaner cycle every week or two. It's really simple.

My folks have a set of front loaders they’ve had for longer than I had my last top load washer and dryer. They’ve not had a bit of trouble and they wash clothes like it’s going out of style.

Speed Queen or Maytag.

Stay away from the fancier and better looking LG or Samsung. Quality is not the same and many service companies won’t work on them.

The one I got that was stackable is for my camp. It is an LG that is a couple years old but it works really well. Like others have said you probably should leave the front door open and run the cleaning cycle regularly (pain in the arse to remember more than anything else) but it has done well for me.

My wife is 5’4”, front loaders make it more convenient for when I do all the damn laundry in the house.

Both have good reputations. Speed Queen even brags on a 25 year life if I’m not mistaken. I’m going to look into them. Appreciate it.

My experience with LG front loaders was not a positive one. Our washer only lasted a few years and was going to cost as much to repair as a new one. I tossed it and bought an old school top loader. The dryer is still fine.

I don’t know what’s good, but I know Samsung sucks.

I have an LG and really like it. Consumer reports gave it a 91/100 back in 2015

I actually like front loaders and have had better luck with them (durability) as compared to top loaders.

One thing that I would recommend though (if you have this option) is to switch to a natural gas dryer. Clothes dry faster, and is cheaper to run as compared to electric.
