Flat tax is an idea who’s time has come!

I’ll finally get to rock my Steve Forbes lower back tattoo with pride again!

It is not his job to legislate, talk to your representative and senators if you want the tax code changed. The president doesn't write law.

Same as the "gun-show loophole". Something idiots cling to when they think the "spirit" of a law is violated.

Neither side will win the tax loophole issue. They both play the game and all are rich from it.

The real issue is that every politician should have to disclose all loan/debt they have and who they owe it to.

Tell us how the president is going to do that all by himself

According to the NYT post that Trump basically hasn't paid any federal income taxes over the last decade...

They also admit that he has paid $24.3 million in the Alternative Minimum Tax(AMT)

They are using semantics when they say he isn't/hasn't paid income tax

The AMT is the law, written by Congress and signed by the President, that says regardless of losses, regardless of charitable deductions, if you earn over X amount, you have to pay Y amount. IOW a minimum tax on your income that regardless of loopholes that Congress wrote in to the tax code you still have to pay z% of your income.

My wife and I earn a lot of money and make very large charitable contributions, besides have large deductions for property tax and other deductible items.
We have paid the AMT every year for the last 15 years or so.
I have zero problem with Trump paying as little as he can legally. I sure as hell pay as little as we can legally get by with paying.

EDIT: Hell last year I actually had to pay 20% more than I earned in 2019 because of the AMT
Long discussion as to why that is correct and true, but the fact is, it is true.

What makes you think this Administration hasn't taken steps to do this? Lot of provisions in the TCJA are meant to curb abuses.

Yeah, you've been peddling this bullshite for a couple of days. They made claims on two specific years. Nothing in that article contradicts those claims.

Yeah, you have been supporting this horse shite story for days.

It does not give the complete story of what he paid.

It does not remotely demonstrate breaking of any law

no connection to Russia

Are you stupid enough to believe that Trump should have volunteered to pay more? If not what is the fricking point of the story?

Then you didn't read the whole article.

I realize that you probably don't have the reading skill and comprehension to digest a long article, but they do in fact list what he paid because of the AMT.

To find it for yourself you can actually use the search function on the article and search for "Alternative"

It will take you to what really took place.

That said, frick You!, you worthless none productive piece of shite, leach on society, and terrible citizen!

Yeah, more like pointing out how dishonest some posters are. Also, amused by idiots calling others idiots.

What would you suggest is missing from the story?

Never suggested it did.

Nope.

A hit piece. It just doesn't contradict itself as has been repeated over and over and over again on this board.

Yeah, I did. I'm just not a liar like you.

The claim wasn't that he's never paid any tax. They gave a figure of 24M paid because of AMT (before refund claims, according to them) over a period of 7 years in the 2000 to 2017 range. Yesterday, you took that 24M figure and divided it out evenly over the 7 years and tried to suggest that the NYT was lying about its 2016 and 2017 claim. You claimed he paid 3.5M (your average number) because of AMT in those years and that the detail was buried deep in the article. Not so. You pulled that completely out of your arse by massaging the numbers claiming it was all right there in the NYT story. Dishonest and sad.

None of that and honest. You should try it.

I'll guarantee neither of those claims are true compared to myself.

I'll even make the bet that I paid more in Federal Income tax the last 4 years than you have earned in your whole miserable life.
