NFL coaches and masks? Is it political? PR? Optics?

I don't get this charade.
Has the NFL explained why they're forcing only coaches to wear masks and fining them if they don't in EMPTY stadiums...
In a controlled environment where everyone has been tested inside that bubble and the players aren't wearing them...
And all the games are mostly all OUTDOORS - shite, where I live you can eat at any restaurant sitting shoulder to shoulder next to a stranger as long as you're outdoors.
Counties and the Feds say, ahh, outdoors are fine...you only need to wear a mask standing in line at Costco or if you work in a sweatshop and the windows and doors are locked and you're in China.
Kids at my local H.S. are all on the football field playing and practicing and nobody is wearing a mask of course.
I mean you know they have tested EVERY single player and coach who walks into that EMPTY stadium.

Oceania was at war with Eastasia. Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia.

They’re not in a bubble and can have contact with stadium staff that aren’t tested as frequently

They are making Sean Payton wear it when he’s immune since he’s already recovered

NFL coaches get fined
The first week Carroll got fined and Sean Payton because they both wore the mask around their necks the entire game.
Players don't have to wear it but the coaches do...the camera is on them.
Head coaches who have been fined by the NFL for violating rules of wearing face masks on the sidelines have appealed, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports, per source.
Vic Fangio, Jon Gruden, Sean Payton, Kyle Shanahan and Pete Carroll are the head coaches appealing the $100,000 penalty assessed by the league last week in its effort to uphold COVID-19 protocols and safety. Their respective teams -- Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks -- were also fined $250,000, bringing a grand total of fines to $1.7 million.
$100,000 are you kidding me? Why are coaches being singled out?

There's a deadly pandemic afoot and masks have been shown to be effective in helping stop its spread.
The Germans, Japanese and Koreans out front should have told you.

So the head coach is now patient zero but the players are immune?
And the coach only wears his mask when he's by himself, when he wants to communicate to the non-mask wearing players he takes his mask off.
Are you a doctor? Because this is quarantine folderol.
But my real question is who ordered this? The NFL just decided coaches have to have it for TV? But players don't? If it's so important why part and parcel?

Oh really
They did?
How did those masks and lockdowns work exactly?

Germany’s health offices registered 2,143 new cases, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Thursday September 24th.
On August 22nd there were 2,034 new cases, and on Saturday September 19th the highest number of new cases (2,297) since April were registered.
“The pandemic is really in full swing now,” said Charité Berlin virologist Christian Drosten on Wednesday.

The oilfield wears hard hats. That said, with the exception of rigs where someone suspended could drop a tool, anything suspended that could fall and hit you will crush you.
At best It’s entirely a psychological thing to remind you to be safe. At worse it’s false hope like curling under your desk during a nuke.

It's all optics. They're basically trying to show their support for the Cdc and whatever their new guideline of the week is.
They know the players,. Coaches, and team personnel are already safe with the extra precautions they are doing. It's more so to say "in today's culture where everyone is wearing masks, we don't want to look like the only people who aren't wearing masks"

Why should Sean Payton, who already had Covid, be fined for not wearing one? There is your answer.

The NFL wants to blame coaches if a player somehow dies so they don’t get sued. “We told them to wear it”. Never mind the odds of a player dying are slim to none.
