Do you think that the immediate certificate submitted by LPMD stating "None" in the death column played a role in this?

Yikes
Wait, you wouldn't find a cop shooting someone justified if that someone was threatening the life of someone else in the area?
I assume you just can't read, but just in case...Yikes.

Do you know what "grownups" don't do? They don't deflect the problem being brought to them with some ridiculous character assassination. The character of these two people isn't what people are or should be concerned about. It's the legality of what the officers did as well as what exactly happened that night.
You saying oh well she shouldn't be hanging with bad people is essentially you saying you lack any real argument in regards to the topic so you'll pull out some random gothca bullshite, like it has one iota of relevance

I clarified that later in the thread. I misunderstood his post initially.

Fair enough. Still catching up.

I'm not saying it doesn't... HOWEVER, the passages I posted ALSO apply... and if they would have been applied, maybe, just maybe, a human life wouldn't have taken prematurely, regardless of what that human life is/was doing...

My issues with how this has all played out (as someone who currently lives in Louisville):
- LMPD was found negligent enough in a civil court to end up with a massive settlement that the taxpayers here will have to pay the Taylor family. While I appreciate the conditions of the settlement requesting some significant changes in the department, this shouldn't be the taxpayer's burden to bear. The largest settlements this city has had has been due to LMPD negligence (the previous one for a investigator who falsified and ignored evidence to keep an innocent man in prison).
- There has been a systematic failure from the Mayor down to LMPD in handling this issue. They were shady in how the reports were written (they were virtually blank when released months later), shady in how they handled information released to the public, shady in lying about the body cam situation. There's a lot of people who should be roasted over this.
- The FOP has far too much power at this point and I blame the city as much as the FOP for allowing it to happen.
- Hankinson should've never been in that raid because he should've been shite canned long before that given what we've publicly seen of his file.
- No knock warrants should be banned statewide (they're working on that). There have been multiple incidents of LMPD mishandling them.
- I have real, real issues with cops not getting punished for lying to obtain a warrant.
- I sincerely question the competency of LMPD, not just in this case, but in others that are well-documented at this point. Hopefully this gets them the needed revamp, but it's doubtful as Metro Council just took $1 million from the Louisville Free Public Library budget to put in the LMPD budget with no stipulations.

That whole report was a hot arse mess.
I've seen some question whether Mattingly knew she was still alive when they exited the apartment. That's probably where people were wanting a murder charge. It's my understanding they didn't call EMS until well after and she was still alive for a time after she had been shot. But because all of those details haven't been released, I don't want to predicate my opinion of charges on that.
If they did leave her laying there without assistance, I'd definitely have an issue with that.

very lucky there wasn't anyone else killed... would love to see how this scenario would be defended here if, say, the next door neighbor, who had NOTHING to do with any of this, other than just being next door, would have been shot asleep in bed... food for thought

The militarization of police, police tactics and decisions on warrants are issues largely attributable to "us". We put cops out there to take these actions on our behalf. I find that highly distinguishable from choking out a suspect or shooting an unarmed guy in the back. In contrast, it's a much more tenuous argument to suggest that the Walter Scott shooting, for example, is "on us" (citizens).
I'm not saying there are no individual actions here worthy of prosecution (I don't know). But I've seen no coherent legal arguments relating to the arrest of the officers for charges pertaining to Taylor's death.

Obviously their fault for living next door to a person who knew some other people.

Even the lady reporter from the NYT proved that they knocked and announced by saying only 1 neighbor heard it.

This is gonna be awkward for you. The DA said an independent witness at the scene verified this. Try getting the FACTS before taking a hardline position.
