The young pitchers who have no beef with owners and are playing for their baseball lives are a thorn in the side of the vets

If they keep it up, the vets will have to suck it up on a bigger stage unnecessarily

Who knows? Maybe pride kicks in and they actually give a shite when forced to

There shouldn’t be doubt in anyone’s mind that the previously paid players mumble amongst themselves that they are ready for this to end

And honestly, could you blame them? They had to deal with the sign-stealing shite, losing their manager and GM and getting a new manager who barely has a pulse.

On top of that, you lose your Cy Young pitcher and Rookie of the Year for the year and almost everyone else of consequence has been hurt at some point.

And what is the final prize for grinding it out and winning it all? A trophy that means you were the lucky team to get hot in the crap-shoot that is the 2020 playoffs. Nobody will take this year's champion seriously, no matter who it is.

I can honestly see why these guys want this shite to end, if that is indeed their mindset--which I think it is.

There's no doubt they have plenty of reasons to attempt to justify their play, or lack thereof

But they are supposed to be professionals. If you and I showed up to do our job as prepared as they have, especially the level of compensation we're talking about here, we would be fired.

You think it's a coincidence that veterans are being "hurt" at five times the normal rate?

And don't even bring up the sign stealing stuff. If that actually meant anything to them, it would motivate them more to show how much it was a crock of shite.

I will add that this is mostly across the board in the MLB, and not just the Astros, but I don't commit time and energy following the other teams.

This is personal to me when it comes to the Astros.

Hope you continue to do well 5 Deep.

George is trying to make the case for big money in 2021, even if he shouldn’t be judged either way by this farce of a season. Ditto for Brantley. And Tucker is a youngster trying to establish himself. I don’t know what Yuli’s excuse is except he’s old.

On the other hand, Altuve and Bregman have their money and Correa is pretty much a bag of shite. Not hard to see they’d be ready for the season to be done.

Meanwhile in #YankeeGate, the Yankees president is personally arguing in court against the release of the Super secret reputation damaging letter.

quote:

@EvanDrellich

As the Yankees continue to fight a court-ordered release of “the Yankees Letter,” they’re taking an uncommon step: The team’s president, Randy Levine, plans to argue the case himself. "It should be a really interesting argument,” he said.

My level of disgust with all things Astros and Saints is at critical mass. If I didn’t have a full time job, I’d be putting holes in the walls.

One of these days, we're going to do a DAT at the ballpark. But not before Chicken grants me the name change I've been asking for since 2008. I refuse to wear the "Hello My Name is HooHoo" name tag.

A Live-DAT from the ballpark would be pretty epic. Seeing the actual people behind the screen names would be interesting. For some reason, I imagine the pre-game gathering at the bar to look something like this:

Can the Astros score 5 runs in 1 game, and if they could accomplish this feat, would they give up 6?

Yuli is bad right now. He’s had a bunch of bad luck, and he’s also given away a bunch of at bats with weak contact early in counts.
