Spoiler free review: Dark and fricked up with some rewarding vengeance. My kinda flick!

Very dark, and very well done.
I tried compiling a list of all the depressing moments:
Spoilers
Soldier tortured on a cross. Killing the dog. Mom dies of cancer. Dad kills himself. Preacher1 kills his wife. Serial killer couple murders hitchers-multiple times. Sister picked on at school and brother beat up. Preacher2 makes mean sermon against poor mawmaw. Preacher 2 takes advantage of underage girls. Sister gets pregnant from preacher2 and accidentally kills herself. With some redeeming moments after these. Wow.

The church brothers playing music feel like they are pulled directly from the Louvin Brothers. Satan is Real

This movie was about an hour longer than it needed to be.

Took me half the movie to place the stepsister Lenora. She was Amy Adams’ younger sister in HBO’s Sharp Objects.

Yep. I was lol’ing when they were describing her as super ugly and I remembered how good she looked in that

I thought this was one of the best Netflix original movies I’ve seen in quite some time. Dark and extremely depressing, but really good acting and storylines.

Dark and extremely depressing,
Spoiler
With the way the movie flowed I thought the guy who picked up Arvin at the end was going to be some psycho who killed him after he fell asleep.

My guess...Arvin ends up in Vietnam in order to keep away from the cops, becomes fricked up over there, comes back home as a drug addict and becomes a homeless vet. He eventually commits suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge.
Seems to fit the mood of the movie.

Good movie. Depressing, and I wouldn’t be in a hurry to watch it again, but it developed its characters well enough that I’d watch a sequel to see what happens to who’s left.

Watched last night. I really enjoyed it. Accents weren't the best buy I've seen worse. Didn't like the author narration at first but at the end I had changed my mind.

I assume there won't be new episodes for a while for some reason. You know if there were Comedy Central would be advertising the frick out of that.
