UPDATE: Trigger Warning: Sunday Night Football Takes Massive Hit in Ratings

Sunday night’s clash between the Rams and Cowboys saw only 14.81 million viewers watch the game. While it’s initial data that lacks Nielsen data from the West Coast, the numbers are a steep drop from the 22.2 million viewers Sunday Night Football held in Week 1 of the 2019 season when the New England Patriots faced the Pittsburgh Steelers.
This is because of Covid and stuff. Also, it’s embarrassing to post about this because who cares what grown men watch.

UPDATED Numbers with College tidbit:

Sunday Night Football delivered 18.94 million viewers for NBC, down 15 percent year to year. CBS' regional games (13.59 million) dropped 12 percent.

On Saturday, college football didn't fare nearly as well as the pros did Sunday. ABC's primetime game drew 3.46 million viewers, down more than 30 percent from the network's 2019 average. It came in behind ESPN's primetime NBA telecast (3.72 million).

I watched the Champions Tour. It was much more entertaining.

But we were told that trillions of people were watching these games.

The difference is, all the folk that's evacuated their homes or have no power on the west coast due to the Trump fires.

Its covid and Americas disdain for Trump that did this!!

You'd think that with COVID, people would be excited for a return to normalcy of any kind, including watching competitive sports.

I bet the nfl does and so do companies who advertise during their games.

Suffer they may, but 14-15 million people in attendance via tv to a single games is a money making number....the anarchist message gets out and money made....they have decided that the message is worth the reduced income...this country is in jeopardy and this group are participating in the distribution of the toxic consumables.

Reading the article the nfl gave $250 million to fight “systemic racism”. I’d like to know what this went to?
Alol this money that is being given to fight “racism”. It has to be in the billions. What is honestly being done with it. Is it just a colossal waste of money. Maybe some if it will help but I’d like to see what programs this going towards
And by the way this really doesn’t seem to be about racism. It’s more about poverty. To me it just sucks if this all about only black impoverished people. I would rather have these programs help every struggling person no matter the color

You haven't seen the PSAs about all the programs BLM has set up helping the little children of color?
Oh wait, there have not been any - never mind.

Wouldn't Covid make TV viewership higher, phoning a friend...

So they're creating programs to make their black racist players less so?

We had dinner with friends. Sat outside, bs’d and enjoyed the cool evening with a hint a campfire lingering in the air. The better half made a berry crumble for dessert.. Wait, what’s this football thing about?

Thats all true but the networks are going to likely have to give away millions in “make goods” to advertisers who paid for the expectation of 20 million viewers seeing their ad vs 14 million. They had to do it when ratings dropped during the original anthem protests. Eventually thats going to be reflected in the TV deals the NFL gets which is the biggest chunk of their revenue. See how woke the players stay once they see their salaries falling

So when you add in the west coast, about 18-20m people watched?
That's a pretty good number for a boycott.

Oh you mean the fires that antifa started. Well honestly, you're right in that the Oregon and California soyboys don't watch football anyways.

People playing this down are missing all the other forms of revenue that may take a hit. The only way the players keep getting massive contracts is via tv contracts. Fewer viewers in the short term not that big a deal, over the long term, it can be deadly.
