Hmm...the ones that control their own destinies and don't rely on others to lose in order to take their places?

You just figured this out? Picture some poor kid tied up in a closet or basement and the weirdo who is holding the kid there. Got the mental image? Not saying Dukke V is like that, but mentally, both operate on the same frequency.

Even these teams have to get lucky. A team catching the injury bug can derail a season faster than losing to ULM. You have to be lucky for your star players to stay healthy.

Secondly, these teams also have all the little things go right during their season, from favorable officiating to having great weather conditions for every game.

That being said, enough with the jabs at our NCs. I would reciprocate but i can't recalled y'all winning one.

No jabs, just facts. And again, as I've stated, the SEC is the one conference that you can expect to lose games, and still deserve to play for the NC. However, LSU's two titles this decade have been due to some SERIOUS help in the polls. That's all

It's all won in the trenches. Don't let Tennessee beat you and Georgia woulda' been there in the SEC CG and mighta' beaten LSU to get there.

And as far as your "on the field" comment, I think even LSU fans would have to admit that you guys had a LOT of help for your two most recent championships

LSU might have had a miraculous set of circumstances help us out last year, but '03 was more than well earned. As I recall (and you, of course, don't) LSU, OU, and USC each had 1 loss at the end of the regular season. LSU lost to Florida (a game that should have been won had we not played so shoddy), USC lost to Cal, and OU got trounced by KSU. Of course, that 2003 argument is now legendary, but we all know that of those three teams, two of them deserved to be in the BCSCG, and LSU was one of them.
So, if you don't want to blame yourselves for losing to Tennessee, thus keeping you out of last year's BCSCG, you can always blame OU for ruining it for the rest of those teams that don't win their conference championship. Oh, yeah, that's right, you didn't even PLAY for yours.

Ha, I'll just chalk the UT game up as our loss last year. We were never in that game. The SC game, however, yeah, that's the one we should have won that would have changed our season.

LOL, hmm....you don't think that starting the season around 14, 15 and getting a chance to play for the national championship didn't depend on A LOT of teams ahead of you losing? LOL, you can make a better case for last season's being earned than 2003. They were both earned, I'm not saying they were flukes by what they did on the field, I'm saying LSU had some serious help to get there each time. Hell, the 2004 Auburn Tigers were f'n undefeated and didn't get a crack at it, and they started the season basically in the same position as your Tigers did in '03. And I agree, the UT game last year was our loss, we weren't in that game at any point. The SC game is where we blew it. I just hope we get some of that LSU luck in the polls this year if we need it

Ohio State has gotten whipped in the last two BCS games, but is still one of the top 5 programs this decade and one of the top all-time programs. They've also won 3 BCS games this decade (including a title), so it's a bit premature to say that their glory days are in the past.

Also, this constant berating of OSU only serves to discount what LSU accomplished this past January.

All i remember from that game was the complete bullshite PI call in OT.

The Miami defender held the Ohio State receiver while the ball was in the air (early in the play). Holding should have been called, but pass interference was instead. Same bottom line in the end.

Outcome was at it should have been. Justice was served.

You sound like one of the LSU fans I meet all the time in real life, as opposed to a few myopic rantards who post here. I like to believe the majority are like yourself and Volvagia et al. Great post BTW.

Wow! Finally someone who gets it. I have never understood the thought process of someone who tears down the quality/talent of an opponent but then wants props for beating them. Doesn't/shouldn't work that way. LSU beat some good teams last season, and tOSU was one of them.

Very true. I will say I think that rule is bullshite. If a conference is good enough to fill up all the BCS games they should be able too.

Reason that rule exists is to split the BCS money around the conferences, which is basically the only way anything gets done in college football right now

out of everything holding back college football money is the number one. forget not having a playoff for one second (although tis another point of interest) and just realize how exciting a uga vs. usc game woulda been last year. just sayin. figs in charge of the rose bowl made an awesome deciscion to put illinois there. these tie-ins are kinda bullshite.
