Have to bring wife to the Holy city tomorrow. Haven’t been there since the shorona started. What is open for lunch still that is banging. Used to go to Brubachers, the velvet cactus, etc. What y’all suggest?

Rouj Creole - more formal
Building 5 - more casual (marinated grilled steak salad - FTW)

Bistro Byronz good lunch spot. Pairrain's/Chimes is always good food. Think all those Italian places have a lunch dish (Dijiulios, Ruffinos, Pinettas). Overpass Merchant good food.

Casual:
Elsie’s Plate & Pie
The Chimes
Parrain’s
Curbside
The Cove (not to be confused with the Lost Cove which isn’t open at lunch)
Overpass Merchant
Anthony’s
Thai Pepper
Dang’s

A little more nice:
BLDG 5
Cocha
Zea’s
City Pork
Ichiban
Umami
Soji
French Market Bistro
Ruffino’s
Louisiana Lagniappe

Brewbachers is the definition of meh. It's compromise food, for when you have a big family and need a place that will please everyone. Not one dish on their menu is superior to another area restaurant at the same price point, but they do a wide variety of things reasonably well. Everything there is just "okay", but nothing is exceptional and nothing is bad either. I imagine Brewbachers to be what they serve in Pergatory.
