So, how exactly are they supposed to place a spotlight on the issue and place pressure to enact change? Enacting real change is hard and it is ugly. Many people will try to deflect from the issue that's being protested for various reasons.

The general consensus of the American public didn't care for the protests during the Civil Rights movement either, but they had to do it in order to enact change. I don't agree with the looting and vandalism of property, but the protesting for equality is necessary. There's seems to be two different judicial systems in this country and it shouldn't be no matter if you are rich, poor, black, or white. Yeah, seeing and actually going through something like this is hard, but just like the Civil Rights Movement history will prove it was right.

Where are we not equals? Everyone lives under the same laws.

The two different judicial systems, well that's true for richer people, or people in power, hell a black man only served 20 months for killing a 7 year old. There's nothing black and white anymore, yet thats all the real racists want to focus on is skin color.

Just because there are laws on the books doesn't mean it's being adhered to or applied appropriately or if it's even written correctly.

Are you freaking kidding me? I love how you come across as completely confident in this reply. This has zero to do with politics... weather it comes across as politics or not.... THIS.... is human rights.. human freaking rights!

I would like everyone who is reading this thread to do one thing for clarity.

Go to the black lives matter website. Keep an eye on your browser address. Click on the donate button. The browser changes from the black lives matter to act blue.com. Now you know you want to donate to this human rights cause. But you are being diverted to Act blue. Who is Act Blue? Act Blue is the fundraising arm of the Democrats. So the human rights cause is giving the money to politicians. That is what makes this political.

Go try this for yourself and see for yourself. Whats the explanation. None of the money will end up in the black community. WHY???? So what is this movement about really?? Why is the NBA & others hitching their wagon to this?

This is a good place to start the conversation...

You know fame doesn’t end when you step off the court?

But anyway; they’d be more successful if they were capable of an honest assessment of the problem.

Hint: it ain’t the police

So they get murdered more often because it's self-inflicted because they don't act correct?because the cops have a right to be racist against them because they beat up women etc etc? so therefore there's not really racism it's just blacks are worse people than other people is what you're saying?? and they deserve to get murdered because they self-inflict people hating them right? Do you know how many white rednecks beat the s*** out of women????? You know the percentage of black people who are raised in the projects with no choices in income or even survival? The system wasn't created by them.... open your heart a little... Jesus

They get killed more often in raw numbers because they are involved in significantly more interactions with police than represents their proportion of their population. That is because they commit more than triple their representation in crimes, particularly violent crimes.

Police brutality is wrong, but it is not a racist thing. People just want to make it that despite the fact statistics and facts show it to be the complete opposite.

Again, let emotion and your incorrect perception of actual reality be what guides you. It will end up destroying this country.

appears the NBA/Pelicans have lost a considerable amount of season ticket holders due to BLM position. 37% season ticket non-renewals who are permanent.

Im not reading through 4 pages of bitching to call this straight bullshite.

37%? And they all canceled because of BLM, not Covid destroying their business or them losing their jobs because of it, not the timing of the season being completely uncertain, no no no it was ALL because of BLM. frick you dude.

Cause I promise you you wouldn’t be able to handle it

1. I am not a Trump supporter. I can’t stand him. The other guy is utter shite and I won’t vote for either.

2. I likely know more about black life than most of you idiots on here spewing his idiotic rhetoric.

3. There are real problems in the black community. Some from outsiders and some from internal causes. You can’t blame everything wrong with blacks on whitey. I’m a minority and see this for what it is. I have seen how this plays out in other countries. We need to help in ways that are productive not just blaming whitey and expecting handouts.

Funny how Nigerians are black and some of the most educated in the world and don’t deal with this same shite like African-Americans do. Think it might have something to do with not glorifying a disgusting culture of violence, horrible treatment of women and obsession over showing off rather than buying what they actually need to live a good life?

This isn’t all black people. This is a big subset of that population bringing down things for all of them.

Some examples of systemic racism in America are the war on drugs, redlining, mass incarceration, school to prison pipeline, etc. Those are all political issues that cause poverty, inequality, and destabilize communities and families. If you want to fix issues with the families and households that raise kids, start there.

war on drugs

Still in existence because of the amount of gang violence and overdoses.

quote:

redlining

Has been illegal for decades.

quote:

mass incarceration

Trump recently overturned the bill written by Biden, signed during the Clinton administration, and freed alot of nonviolent drug offenders.

school to prison pipeline

Happens in all poor communities, not just one race.

 political issues

Well, instead of using your time blaming the past and "whitey", why not educate people on the importance of making smart election choices based on a person's qualifications, track record, and stances?

This is a HUGE issue in all these communities you talk about, as people vote strictly based on party, race and gender, as evidenced by the history of places like New Orleans and Chicago.

It is not that people don’t agree with “Black Lives Matter” as a movement and are willing to support it. However a lot of people feel that the Organization is a Radical Marxist Group and are responsible for a lot of the rioting and violence going on around the country. Also a lot of people feel strongly against kneeling for the Anthem. Regardless of what your beliefs are these are facts.

Season ticket prices went up a sizeable amount. Season tickets just for the upper deck balcony start at $500.00 per seat not to mention the parking fees, and concessions. I looked into it, but I can't justify spending a grand on just tickets and then have the other expenses. When I want to go I'll just get tickets on the after market for a better price.

People are tired of the sports leagues bringing politics into sports and the double standards.
Like when certain cowboys players wanted to put blue lines on their sneakers to support the Dallas cops murdered a coupe years ago and the NFL banned it. But now it’s perfectly ok to put BLM or the names of rapist and convicted violent felons names on their helmets for games.

You don’t see a problem with this?
