I’m not a hardcore prepper but definitely a moderate prepper. Been saving rations of food and water at my house for a while now. I recently bought a 4x4 truck that I am building out as a bugout camper. If shite pops off, I’ll have everything I need to survive, on the go, until I get somewhere remote to set up camp... It’s going to have solar power, solar generator, water filtration system that can literally take dirty French quarter puddle water and make it drinkable, it will have hidden storage in the bed to hide my AR, shotguns, pistols and ammo.

What y’all got?

The knowledge of where you plan on hiding your guns so they'll be easy for me to find when I take them from you.

Where will you go? Do you think the landowner will just let you set up shop and live off his land?

I wouldn’t call myself a prepper but I try to be prepared. When the virus stuff started getting weird, I stocked up on proteins and filled up my freezer. I was able to keep our family meals about the same throughout.

Stores are stocked again except for cleaning supplies so I replenished the proteins, canned goods, and pasta. I got some extra paper products too. This is in preparation for the election in November.

In general, I just bought extra of what we usually eat so it won’t go to waste. Except I bought some pilot bread. Never heard of it until recently.

I don’t have any bugout plans - I’ll take my chances here.

I have enough food and water to not leave my house for two weeks and enough ammo for a 15 minute firefight.

Lots of open land out west with no landowners.

Yeah, I’m not a really true “prepper” (yet) but definitely dabbling in it. I don’t think it hurts to be prepared. The COVID situation and current civil unrest around the country has my hair up a little bit. I’m excited about my bugout camper set up for being able to take road trips and camp in it. However, knowing that if shite hits the fan and I need to head for the hills, I have a 4x4 that can go to out of the way places and a nomadic shelter that is self sustained with all of the essentials to survive... makes me feel a little better.

Could you post a list of essential items for the beginning prepper, please. Then perhaps beyond that some common emergency plans, if that's an ok way to describe it.

Bug out vehicle not that great when you can’t buy gas.

That’s why you should buy a multi-fuel Deuce and a Half and a filtration system. Use any hydrocarbon for fuel. Heck you can even use vegetable oil.

Not much prepping to do when you're born ready.

There is a South Carolina poster here, that had his own prepping website, sold it and has some really good info.

I will search. You’d rather ask him than me.

KISS for Preparedness

#1 Priority: SECURITY
You (can’t get water / eat if not secure
Need: Firearms with ammunition

#2 Priority: WATER
If not on well and power goes out, your local water system will not be able to pump in new water and possibly will be unable treat water leaving system depending on disinfectant used.
Need: Water for family by adding bottled water each shopping trip; buying 5 gallon potable water jugs; buy chlorine to help disinfect if no access to propane/gas/wood to boil, Sawyer / LifeStraw personal filters

#3 Priority: FOOD
Self explanatory like water. I pressure can (mason jars) alot (have 1 year supply for 4) and also 5 gallon buckets using mylar bags with air tight seals to store 2 years of beans and rice.

#4 Priority: SHELTER (usually #1A but accounted for if you live in a home) Only reason to “bug out” is from lack of access to top 3.

#5 Organize / Communicate with like minded individuals.

Who says I won’t leave and head for my hideout before there’s no gas? I have a few jerry cans to help with that as well.
