WGN starting an opinionless news program

This is something I'd like to exist. Take media back to reporting the news, not opining on it. But it's going to last about 7 minutes before the left calls it out as a faux alt-right news source and Trump calls it fake news.

an opinionless news program

Who, what, when, where and why
The why part is all that can be opined about in many cases. When the why isn’t crystal clear then they should have the decency to say that instead of providing their opinions.
That’s real news.

They have producers in place reviewing rhetoric and stories to alleviate any bias. They are at least putting forth a good faith effort.
There is a growing market for that, a market that CNN, MSNBC, and the other MSM abondoned.

The station is in Chicago, so good luck removing bias.

People used to have civil discussions about the why part. Maybe we can do that again if they leave their opinions out of it. Cable news just tells people what to think.

Robots are the only entity that can read a news report without a snicker, the raise of an eyebrow, a clearing of the throat, etc. If you don't want "tells" included in a newscast then machines will have to do the newscast.

It's a great idea, and even though there can still be significant bias in the stories they choose to report, phrasing, etc. I think it's still worthy of support and encouragement.

The bigger point is that I think many are clamoring for less bias and opinion in news.
I know I’ve cut my consumption of cable news to almost zero.

The problem is the army of Aaron Sorkin West Wing wannabes out there. Even otherwise rational people regurgitate leftist talking points like they are thoughtful and meaningful. The Religion of the Democrat Party is too strong for something like this to ever exist. You never get an honest assessment of self-reflection of the Left. Look at how they fawned over Obama. They felt responsible to protect him.
Now, you'd say that what does matter, WGN isn't offering an opinion show. Well, we've lost the plot and even the objectivity of what's opinion and what's fact.
Best you can do is hope for a Joe Rogan. A lefty on 95% of issues, but one that actually thinks people on the Right aren't evil. The lowest of bars, but it's better than nothing.

They've been tried before and all failed.

Its 100% about what stories to elevate. CSPAN claims neutrality but 80-90% of their topics places Conservatives on the Defensive side and the liberals on the offense and then sets up up confrontational setting. That is passive bias.

True, but might as well attempt again. I hate opinion shows. I can formulate my own opinion and think for myself. I have not watched cable news since November 2016 and that was for perverse pleasure only. I would give it a try.

Nobody gets their fact-based news from TV any more, that's all internet. People watch TV for entertainment and there are fewer of them every day which is why the talking-heads shows have to be more and more sensationalist to attract what's left of that ever-shrinking audience.

This used to be a great channel. Chicago Cubs baseball with Jack Brickhouse and Lloyd Pettit and Arnie Harris. This channel had Family Classics with Frazier Thomas on Sunday’s. Garfield Goose and Bozos Circus at noon. Ray Raynor also
I loved this channel as a young kid. So so sad
