People are just realizing there is no layer of protection from government.

If people had any sense of history at all or for that matter any sense of world politics they should have understood that the primary threat wasn't directly from the government. It was from the government tacitly sitting by while it's followers attacked people it doesn't like. I mean that crap was going on in Venezuela just so year or two ago.

The government doesn't have to actually do it itself. It simply has to give a free pass to those who do

If you were buying your first one right now which would you choose? Keeping in mind that my handle is not intended to be ironic. It should be comfortable in the hands of somebody who isn't terribly tall

I was in the gun store Saturday picking up more ammo for my new Antifa-killer. Dude near the counter was looking at a Glock and kept looking over the gun, turning it over in his hand looking perplexed.

Finally, he leaned to me and asked where the safety was. I pointed at his head. Never aim if you don’t intend to shoot. Never put your finger in the trigger guard unless you’re going to shoot. That’s your safety. Look on his face was like holy sheet He said something about what if it accidentally fires.

He’d never held a gun before in his life. Just told him to load the magazine, leave the chamber empty, cock it to chamber a round only if you’re 100% sure he’s going to shoot it. It’ll never accidentally discharge.

I’m glad people are arming up, but sheesh man.

I have always been a supporter of the 2nd amendment. I just don't hunt and did not grow up around guns. I have handled firearms of all sorts before. I just never owned one, never thought I needed to until recently.

Not meant to be a flippant answer, but whatever you can find. Most anything will be fine for now and you can make upgrades to what you get.

The first firearm for anybody unfamiliar with semiautomatic weapons should be a revolver. They’re reasonably safe, and once you’re trained and comfortable with firearms, then you move on to the big boy stuff.

The first pistol I ever bought was a .45 ACP, but I’m former military and I was somewhat familiar and comfortable with what I was buying.

I'm in that number. I was thinking about getting a gun for a long time though. I was inspired by a video game my friend got me into.

A lot of people are buying upper & lower receivers, barrels, etc. separately and building their own.

Had a coworker in Minneapolis today tell me that there are 0 spots open to get a concealed carry permit or "training" in the area.

Imagine this being possible a year ago in Minnesota. CRAZY!

I bought my first gun back in 2012 when I turned 30. A Glock 19 Gen4. This was before Aurora and Sandy Hook. I waited a year after the gun gouge of 2013 to by an AR-15 for its normal price.

Everyone around here stocks up on rifles and ammo. I’m just gonna calmly buy a home defense 12 gauge next cause there’s plenty of those and buckshot for sale.

I'm just past the generation that played Minecraft. I started playing The Division 2 and then I started reading about guns and now I have Remington 870, before all this shite went down.

That's a whole bunch of people that don't know to handle a firearm. I hope they followed up the purchase with at least some basic training.

This doesn't bother me that much.

I'm trying to get the wording right with this...

some people are buying guns because they think it's cool and they want to play around. Those can be inherently dangerous.

The vast majority of the new buyers this year, don't fall into that category. Otherwise they probably would already have had one.
Soccer moms aren't going to be waving their new pistol around or playing them on the couch. I do hope they learn how to not shoot themselves while performing maintenance/cleaning, or while putting inside/out of their purse (which is where a lot will go, no doubt). But I don't think there will be a rash of accidental discharges above the past percentages. That's the anti-gun media message, that owning a gun will result in disaster.

I have one. I really like it. Its OD green so it cant be considered a "black Rifle" and be taken away.

Seriously, its a good shooting rifle.
