We are moving out of New Orleans and have expanded our search area to include looking at houses here. Anyone have any info on this area.

ocean springs and pass christian are nice places. do you have kids? it can get a little boring at times but they have good schools and its slower paced lifestyle
there are some nice places to eat. There's a Rouses in Diamondhead so your local new Orleans grocery needs can be met

I really like the MS coast and looked to move there pre Katrina, luckily we didn't I guess. I work with several people from that area who commute in to the Stennis area.

Old Bay St Louis or Ocean Springs

O.S. has changed a lot, but in mostly good ways. As others pointed out, great if you have kids.
Lots of good fishing, and crabs run hard July-August.
Several good golf courses as well, although Gulf Hills is transitioning to an Executive Course.
There is a Rouses across from the hospital on Hiway 90 and you gave to try Tato-Nut doughnuts.

I have lived in OS my whole life (sans college) and really like it here. You will pay more for a house in OS than you will anywhere else on the coast. School system is best in the state. Big art presence here. You will have to travel to nearby cities for most of your entertainment choices.
I'd be happy to answer any specific questions you might have.

I live in Os. My kids have excelled in the school system here. It is a A rated school district. Not much crime that I have seen in the past 7 years. Nice downtown area. Beaches suck, restaurants are hit and miss. I have lived In Wyoming, Ohio, Louisiana, Texas and Miss. Ocean Springs is very nice imo.

I think the new Rouses in Gulfport is probably nicer.

Ocean Springs has a nice downtown area with restaurants and bars with live entertainment. There is a small beach area and a marina on the Gulf. Schools are nice, good demographics, nice folks. Close to Biloxi/Gulfport.

I lived in OS right after college when I worked at Ingalls. I was only there for about 6 months but loved the area. Very chill place.

ihometiger not gonna lie we are going miss you in NOLA but otoh what is the deal with people leaving New Orleans for Bay St. Louis and Ocean Springs lately. I know at least eight people who have relocated over the last two months from the Garden District.
I mean I understand the Lower Garden District, Garden District, Warehouse District, and Uptown look like ghost towns with all of the permanent restaurant, bar, and business closures but I have been shocked with the number of people pulling up roots and moving to freaking Mississippi although BSL and OS do rock.

We figured it was time to get out due to the restaurants/bars/stores that closed Down and will never reopen. Plus we had those stupid BLM/Antifa protesters marching by our house a few weeks ago. This was the last straw because we didn’t want to become stuck in this ticking time bomb of political incompetence in Louisiana. Keeping a small office in Louisiana but moving everyone except for five people with the operations out of Louisiana once I make the official decision.

I grew up there. Went to Notre Dame HS. Was one of the last graduating classes before it became Mercy Cross. Sister now lives in family home in Gulf Hills.
