It would have been a good game. Your defense was not a typical LSU defense last year and Ryan Day would have drawn up a good game plan. Clemson’s defense was a lot of smoke and mirrors, unlike a typical Clemson D. LSU was advantaged by what Ohio State did, and Brady and Day know each other. Ohio State shot themselves in the foot vs Clemson. Ohio State’s D would have held up better than Clemson’s for reasons others brought up.

That said, Fields was probably 80% and Dobbins got hurt. In the second half LSU would have pulled away.

Peaking at the right time is huge in any sport at any level. LSU's defense played very good football in 3 post-season games against elite competition. The offense was simply transcendent in those 3 games. There's a fair argument that tOSU would have been a slightly tougher match-up than Clemson but I just can't see a big gap either way. The way LSU was playing in the post-season they would have smoked anybody.
