Has Electronic earmuff technology advanced the last 5-6 years?

My first electronic muffs were Walker's Alpha Muffs (Always killed the batteries because I forget to turn them off and they make everything sound like they are talking in a tin can) then about 5-6 years ago I picked up some Howard Light Impact sports. Seems like 75% of people on the range have the Howard Lights. I like the auto off and they seem to have better "sound" quality than the Walkers. My Howard Lights are starting to show their and and are getting dirty and ragged out. Do I just buy another set of Howard Lights? Or is there something you guys have found you like better on the market now? I'd consider adding bluetooth but not really 100% sure I'd use it very much.

Yes, but some of it is quite pricy. I still have my MSA Sordins and they are nice.
But I bought a Nacre Quietpro off ebay. Its pretty amazing.

And there are even better ones on the market now. Ear doctors can do molds and electronics can go in them.

Howard leights are IMO the standard for their price point.
Don’t ever use the MSAs because you’ll never go back.
Only thing worth buying from peltor is the comtacs.

Never seen nor heard of MSA. I'l all for putting the money down on something I use a lot if it's appreciably better, What makes the MSA's so good? Where do you go to buy a set?

MSA is huge in the construction world. They make tons of quality PPE.

Yes. To the point about two years ago we had a range day. A guy brought a .50

Could any of you fine, esteemed OB’ers suggest a set of ear buds?
Been researching a set of of them for me and the son do duck and dove seasons. I already have hearing problems, wife says it’s only getting worse

I wore a pair of HL’s when shooting for marks in the field years ago and could hear the conversations at the line from 200-300 yds away.

I've been using these for several years - don't remember exactly when I bought them but they were (a) expensive and (b) great. Get the cotton covers - they are washable, protect the leather(y) cups, and are especially good when shooting in cold weather.
I don't think the NRR rating was/is as high as the Pro-Tac Mag Gold muffs I used to use, but I wear really good foam ear plugs under them (indoor pistol shooting) and my ENT doc says the combo is good enough.
My only complaint it that the wires that run under the "headband" are losing their insulation. I'm gonna have to fix that - maybe with some heat shrink tubing.
