re: Unity 2020 - Not Trump. Not Biden.

This is why the entire political environment in America has consistently moved leftwards for the last three decades.
We have issues now that possibly have never been more critical to address like trade, immigration, tax policy, racial strife, spending...but we're more worried about decorum or some abstract jibber-jabber. If you care about issues, vote in that direction. If your issues are "embarrassment", just stay home on election day.

The middle put Obama in office.
But when they (we) did, it wasn’t a bad thing. He ran a really good campaign. It was the second time that it was probably a mistake. But I also do agree that Obama started the divide, but much more unintentionally than Trump, who just wants to watch this country burn to the ground.

Unity 2020
Are you familiar with Unity 2020? And if so, what are your thoughts?
It's a non-starter but it's an interesting idea and I'm on board with it as an exploration.
In other words who would be President?

especially now that most people have been driven further from the middle. (Thanks, Trumpy)
This has happened because of people like YOU, and the hateful party you favor, and the lying media that supports it.

There was nothing "middle" about Obama...not in his campaign or anything else. Those who voted for him in the "middle" were largely of the usual uninterested in politics variety but "golly gee, if we had a black president wouldn't that just say something?"
Now we're watching people get bludgeoned in the streets to make sure "black lives matter". The "middle" is and always will be the open door for the worst in politics.

He wouldn’t claim he was such either.

This is extremely well put and indisputably true. The intellectual dishonesty of the person you responded to is simply gross

I agree with you on this. I've seen the mini-documentary with him chronicling what happened at Evergreen State College and also seen him on Tucker Carlson several times. Seems like a nice enough guy and honest about who he is. But I doubt we'd EVER vote the same way on many issues.

Trump is a national embarrassment
You prefer the Obama apology tour?
That was an embarrassment. That resulted in world leaders laughing at us. That was not diplomacy. That had negative effect on national security and our economy.
I do not want a friend in the WH. I want a leader. I can overlook his NY swag and hyperbole.

Wouldn't it be nice if we had both?
We can have both.
Trump >>>>>> Biden, obviously, but Both >>>>>> Trump.

2008 also saw a financial crisis and people sick of the Bushes and Clintons. Obama was a guy with soaring rhetoric and not a lot of baggage (to the common person) mainly because he didn't have much of a record to run on.
2012 showed how hard it is to beat an incumbent, especially when the opponent isn't much different than the incumbent.

An idea by Brett Weinstein, a hard left liberal who basically got run out of Evergreen State College when the inmates started running the asylum and decided he wasn't woke enough.
He may have woken up a little, but I'm not buying that he's even close to center.
Weinstein is not hard left in the slightest. He condemns the extreme left regularly on his podcast and regularly on his Twitter.
I'm right-leaning, for what it's worth, so we need to be careful to not conflate every liberal with extreme leftists - just as those on the left need not conflate every right-leaning person with the "alt-right".
Let's not play the same game.

Restore patriotic, courageous and capable leadership?!? What the frick? I’m damned near 60 and wondering when these characteristics were last embodied more than the current resident of the White House. Reagan? While I don’t exactly worship at the Orange alter, I believe he has displayed these characteristics. The real issue is that he doesn’t play nice and I couldn’t give a shite. Clowns that have been lifted up as “presidential” and “bipartisan” were there as the country was given away. I’ll take 4 more years and see what the big orange prick can do.

Unlike a lot of people on this board, I really do like him and I hope he has bigger opportunities in the future.
But he's in favor of a lot of unconstitutional bullshite so most of this board thinks he is a cuck.

The idea of a center candidate is interesting, no chance it happens at this point in the game. This is something they need to start now with an eye on 2024.
Define what a center candidate is before stating such bs.
