Looking at picking up a range bag to take 4-6 pistol as well as mags to the range. You fellas prefer those hard type cases or soft ones? Thinking of like a 26" rifle case, modified inside. Leaning towards soft case because of storage when not used and when traveling inside the vehicle.

Seems like you answered your own question. Unless you plan on flying, it’s just a preference.

The eberlestock range bag is expensive but well worth it for pistols/mags/holsters/ear pro/eye pro/tools/etc

Soft case for rifles unless I fly.

The midwayusa range bags are excellent quality for the money. They have a couple different models.

I have the midway bag. It has space for plenty of pistols and any other gear you want.

I liked mine enough to buy my FIL for his birthday

Or crossing certain state lines. You can drive through any state with a firearm as long as it is unloaded and in a hard case and you can legally posses it at your origin and destination.

I have a couple 5.11 and midway bags. Both are very well made and I would be completely satisfied with buying more if I needed.

Also, the midway soft rifle cases are great as well

This is what I have in Hard case. They're compact but hold several pistols with magazines separate and airline approved. They have several different sizes.

MSRP is Canadian $

I don't carry many pistols to the range, but I carry a lot of loaded mags (22 high cap mags) plus ear muffs, shooting glasses, timer, pasters, etc. This is one of the better range bags I've found. GPS Rolling Range Bag

Check out Duluth Pack or Frost River. Their stuff is made in USA a few hours from the Boundary waters Canoe Area and they got their starts outfitting people for week long trips.

It’s Filson-level stuff without the private equity ownership premium and the heavy marketing budget premium.

I use a tote from Duluth Pack for my sporting clay range back and I’m very happy with it.

I have one of these that I love for range visits. If I'm actually transporting pistols, I have one in a hard case mounted inside my waistband and the rest are in Pelican Vault cases.

Here is everything that is in mine when I go to the range and I still have room to put more stuff in there if I wanted to.

-targets
-pens and markers
-muffs
-plugs
-glasses
-tape
-staple gun
-gun multitool
-400 rounds of ammo
-small parts kit for all of my pistols (firing pins, springs, etc.)
-Pistol 1
-Pistol 2
-Pistol 3
-bleedout kit on the MOLLE webbing

For range time I use a soft sided case that holds 4 pistols, I think it has 16 mag slots. Plenty of room for eyes and ears for 2 or more shooters and all the little things you need at the range. I carry my ammo in a 30 cal ammo can... well in 30 cal ammo cans, I usually have multiple cans in multiple calibers.
