Remember when every game was permadeath mode. Ahhh, the good ole days when you had to pause a game and pray to God that it didn't get messed with while you were at school or you had to start all the way back at Level 1.

Saved games and checkpoints are for pussies. Get off my lawn

Is there any benefit to having this as an official "mode"? I've seen streamers do permadeath runs all the time. When you die, you're done.

frick TLoU2 but I am definitely on a permadeath/hardcore mode type game kick lately.

I think part of the allure is that it's not based on self control. For the average person, it's going to feel different if you know you *could* load it back up, but choose not to.

I don't know if I've ever been more angry/crestfallen in a game than playing an ironman run in CKII and getting absolutely wrecked by the endgame Mongol hordes after turning a tiny Zoroastrian county in the middle of Islamic power into a world dominating empire. The amount of googling I did back then to try to figure out how to convert the game type...

Tried beating that mode in Doom : Eternal and damn near had an aneurism

Lol, but a 4 hour game could take months to finish, if you actually could finish.
