It's hard to say exactly what effect she has had on the Spurs. They have not made it to the Finals since she has been there, and we all know Pop is the one who stirs the drink there.
Tell me what her great successes have been there. What is her role there?

The pels don’t need to be taking a risk on someone like hammons
They need a proven head coach

She is too much of a gamble with a young team. I would however select her over Lue and Kidd. This team needs Kenny Atkinson.

I mean what are the real options.
I kind of feel like teams like us need to take a chance on relative unknowns and hope for success.
I dont want any more sub par re treads and if the alternative is ending up with Kidd or Mark Jackson sign me the frick up for becky

I think Nancy Lieberman would command respect more than most male coaches. Lieberman has forgotten more basketball than most men know.

Are they gonna rig the lottery for us after the hire or not? That weighs heavily on my opinion.

The only specific concerns are;
How will a woman handle a lockeroom on her own. These are pros but at the same time this isn’t a normal business. It’s sports. It’s a lot of alpha males and testosterone.
Otherwise it’s all the same concerns any first time HC would raise.

You mean the same way Monty Williams was a Pop disciple?

She definitely should be considered.

Yes, the same Monty who coached an 8-0 bubble team and won top coach of the seeding games. That's the one.
Monty was not the right coach here when let go but that doesn't mean he's not a good coach.

We need a well respected tough guy > someone who did pretty well on an already fully established and disciplined team.

Players wouldn’t respect her. No

And how are they going to react to that? Boylen was tough and a hard arse and the Bulls tuned him out.

Not going to lie. I did not expect that response from you.

Why? What is she known for as a coach? Standing next to Pop for 4 years is not going to create a great coach. Otherwise, the league would already be full of great coaches.

I’m surprised her name comes up before Messina. He was huge in Europe. Coached with Pop for like 6 years.
Back to Europe.
Its wild that Basketball is an international sport now and the idea that a coach from another country may be good gets no traction.

Pretty sure that was by choice, he wanted to go back home/there wasn’t that perfect fit for him. In his words he wanted/wants a lot of organizational control(at a time most organizations are pulling back on that). Which basically makes him like oil and water with Griffin here, who is not going to defer front office control to his head coach.
Before that choice he was at the top of pretty much every speculative list until he decided to return to Italy.

Pop disciples or major influences make up like 20% of the head coaches in the league lol.
So yeah, standing next to Pop, or being employed/mentored by him, has basically been a sure fire path to getting a shot as a head coach, and a lot of them have been solid. Budenholzer, Brett Brown, Quin Snyder, Boylen, Borrego,Monty, Doc, all either served with Pop, served for him, or consider him a key mentor.
I think we know why many feel a different way suddenly about this Pop disciple, but par for the course would in fact be her getting a head coaching gig sooner rather than later.

There’s obvious cultural issues with respecting women I just can’t seeing it work
When things are tense or going bad, it won’t go over well when she has to really ride a player. How much deferral would be to assistants to have hard conversations? . Then who is the ‘true’ coach, what is the hierarchy? I just can’t see it
And I’m not saying she’s not qualified. But respecting Becky as an assistant is different from that as a head coach
