If this season happens, I’ll never again talk badly about the Big 12.

Hell yes! Let's go.

As I type this I'm listening to Lebotard bash schools playing. So stupid.

Nope

The “9+1” scheduling model features a September 26 start date for Conference play.

Each team will have a minimum of two bye dates and potentially a third bye late in the season. The Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship Game is tentatively scheduled for December 12.

All non-conference games must be completed before September 26 and the match-ups will be announced by each individual conference member.

Well, shame on you. Lebotard is a CV19/Infectious disease expert.

What is the purpose of the non-conference game comment? Are they expecting to revive outer conference play with the SEC or are they leaving open the possibility of a school from the big 10 coming in? Didn't understand that.

Amen to that. They are my heros now

Now, we have to align strong and get the ACC to join and lets play football. These liberal run conf (Big 10 and Pac 12) can watch on tv.

What gets me is that the Big 10 announced that the football facilities will remain open, cafeterias, weight rooms, etc. Then why not play football?? Where else will the student athletes be able to get tested 2 times per week and receive proper and routine medical care? LSU had numerous players catch Covid when they went to Tigerland a few weeks ago. We get Covid when not playing football especially kids doing what kids do.

If all the players test negative during the practice week, and test negative a day before gameday and follow the safety protocols then all players on both teams are NEGATIVE, then what is the frigging problems to bash it out on the field. No one can get sick if no one has Covid

Play Ball!!!!!

My guess is it's one of two reasons:

1) They see other conferences doing a 10 game schedule and considering that "safe" so they're doing the same to bring in the extra revenue without looking like they're adding more risk

2) IF (and that's a big "IF") there is a playoff of some sort, they want to be able to say that their teams also played ten games and should be considered.

Just talked to a friend of mine who’s a UT grad. He says their +1 will probably be UTEP.

Even if in the worst case this doesn’t work out and they have to end up cancelling anyway at least Big 12 had the balls to try

Much more than I can say in regards to the Bitch-10

Amen to that.

I agree with most everything you said.

The one thing I would add is that any players who do get Covid and recover receive a thorough cardiac exam to be certain they aren't of the few who can have heart residual issues. If they don't, then any potential liabilities for those dropping on the field from heart disease are pretty much removed. Every Power Five University has the resources to bring in necessary testing equipment and personnel to accomplish the same. Meet the potential liability head on. Those proactive efforts would go a tremendous length to keep the fear-mongers on the sidelines.

I see no need to bring politics into this, however, as the disease is not political in who it affects. There can be fear-mongers, naysayers and also those with practical solutions.
