Adrian is awful but whatever is going on with our D needs to be addressed immediately. Fabhino at CB incredibly looks like our best option at this point.

All this means is we won't be unbeaten until like March or whatever like we were last year... I stopped watching at the half because I just didn't care anymore

Not gonna make a lot of big picture observations based off one bad performance

yeah - I think we'll sort it out though... Adrian, deflections and throwing everyone forward chasing the game... That said, we weren't nearly good enough and there was a general flatness about that performance..

Give credit to AV, they have played well this season...

Good thing is we have 3 WC players to come back... Sadio, AB and Thiago... not to mention Hendo... I think we'll get control of it again..

I really hope we can get these covid guys fit before the Merseyside derby in 2 weeks or we’re gonna be in trouble

A bit of a cherry-pick photo there bub. That’s coming off a cross man.

Keep foes one of two things... dive for the cross or watch it if he can’t get to it.

He was out of position, but that is not a keeper issue. Nobody is within 5 yards of the scorer in that pic.

I’m currently on minute 57 of this shite show. About to turn it off bc sleep is probably a better decision. Call it an overreaction, I don’t really care, but Gomez is just not good enough. On his best days, he’s pretty good...on his worst, might as well have Dej back there.

Well then here's a video for you... that is shocking goalkeeping if he cant see that Watkins is going to get to the ball... absolutely shocking..

and Im not saying the defending is great here...

I was kind of lulled into thinking he was a pretty good keeper through the first part of last season... at least a more than capable #2.. he did a good job when Alisson was out. But since then he's been awful... and I fear now that its in his head, it may only get worse...

Look, I am not defending his performance. He basically had two guys to guard there. He picked the one he thought would most likely get to the cross.

Granted, he should have seen the guy who actually got to it, but his instinct seemed to prove right in that the guy that connected with that ball couldn’t get enough on it to redirect it well.

He absolutely needs to go, but what do we truly expect out of ANYONE who is alone as a keeper on a ball into the box with two potential scorers basically unmarked?

we'll just disagree on this one... he hit the crossbar and should have scored... the ball was never getting to the far post...

Anyway, thats the last I'll say about it... our defending was terrible all match (Robbo was okay) and didnt do him any favors...

Whoa whoa whoa... lets not get carried away..

He def needs to improve his 1v1 defending, but on the 2nd goal he was left on an island with TAA being out of position... Lovren just made the most boneheaded errors, all the time... I really like Joe and he's gone long stretches being rock solid as the RCB... I dont think he's undroppable and he may need some time on the bench.. need Matip back healthy..

To me his biggest error yesterday was dwelling on the ball too long (I think right before half), when Grealish took it off him and it led to a goal..

I don’t think that is too much to say... We’ve given up way more ridiculous goals with Gomez in than we ever did with Lovren.

Lovren’s issues were way more head scratching, however. He has the ability to be world class, but the thing between his ears failed him once or twice a match.

Seems to be a Gomez thing too.

Gomez is pretty good on the ball when he makes the occasional Matip-esque dribble to center field, he’s also quick...but his passing and 1v1 defending are rough. He cannot 1v1 defend without fouling, he takes pretty bad positions and gets beat. He always looks a step behind as well, like he’s too reactionary and doesn’t anticipate well. I think he’s good, I just don’t know if he’s the right guy for the high line defense.

Again, we'll disagree... Lovren was always an accident waiting to happen..

There was one point last season when statistically, Gomez was VVDs best partner... Into late Feb they (as a pair) had a run where they only conceded 1 goal in 1,246 minutes of play. I agree he's not been in top form since the restart and some time on the bench may do him some good...

Think our tier 1s are reporting everyone is staying for this season. No deals reached with other clubs.

Swiss FA have confirmed Shaqiri has tested positive...

We should have pulled a salzburg and refused to release players...

Hope for a speedy recovery for him.

Also really hope none of our starters get it. Missing Mane and Thiago was obviously not all of the problem, but certainly noticeable vs AV.

Grujic to Porto on a season long loan (no option to buy)... Good move for him.
