Trashy tattooed women and trash pit bulls.
Why would AP glorify a dog breed that kills and maims?

Is this post tongue and cheek?
I used to volunteer at the ASPCA, Pit Bulls are the sweetest dogs.
Only trashy owners train them to be attack dogs.
Pit Bull used to be the #1 family dog breed in America. It was the dog of "Our Gang" - the dog doesn't maim and kill by instinct. Trashy people train it to because it's a strong dog.

yeah i remember when i was growing up Rottweilers were the "bad dog" b/c they were the dog of choice of trash
the difference is, however, that Pitts have a much smaller margin for error, given their power and ferocity when/if that switch gets flipped

Well, they just wanted to fit into the image of the "hood" where their operation is located.
For those who don't know, it's along the side of the Claiborne Ave. bridge that crosses the Industrial Canal on the Poland Ave. side of the bridge.
You drive down the bridge heading toward Poland Ave. and it's on the right hand side.

Come on dude. Almost every pit attack headline is followed by “he has never done anything like this before. He is the sweetest dog. My kids loved him”

Pit bull breeds are naturally strong, intelligent, and courageous. Their main goal is to please their owner. (So if they have a trashy owner that trains to fight, the Pit Bull will fight).
In the early 1900s, pit bulls were given the title of “Nanny Dog." They were known to be faithful, loving, and loyal, especially when it came to children. A child's safety was practically guaranteed. So what happened?
One of the most tolerant, patient, and gentle dogs is now being portrayed as the most dangerous. Because of their bad reputation, at least 2,800 pit bulls are put to death every day—by far the highest of any specific breed.
Before pit bulls were labeled as the most agressive, Rottweilers were considered to be the most aggressive breed of dog. Before that, it was the Doberman and the German Shepherd.
In temperament tests operated by the American Temperament Test Society, pit bulls were rated the second-most tolerant. The most tolerant dog was the Golden Retriever, and the least tolerant was the Chihuahua.
It has been said that the pit bulls' jaws locks and that they have the most powerful bite among dog breeds. This has made people wary of their temperament, but neither of these statements are true. Their jaws do not lock, and the dog with the most powerful bite is actually the Rottweiler.

Bull shite. I used to go to a distant cousins house to swim late 80s.
He had pits and “they are the best dogs man” but yet my parents wouldn’t let us get out of the car until they were chained up. He got rid of two of them because they killed the neighbors collie down the road.
They have been a shite breed for a long time.

The twins come into work a good bit. They are pretty nice guys from my experience. Regardless of how you feel about the breed they are trying to do something good

When I was growing up it was the Doberman. That was the evil scary dogs you saw on Magnum P.I. and they had to be trained to not kill you. That's how they were portrayed. Instead of trained to attack, they were shown to need a command to back off from tearing you to shreds. They were the guard dog of all commercial businesses and homes and you saw them in movies.
Then late 80's hit and suddenly it was the Pit Bull...because a-hole owners had trained it to attack and fight.
I mean seriously, Sports Illustrated had a cover on this dog? Did they foresee the future with Mike Vick?

No one on this board today deserves a downvote more than you do. Enjoy!

I actually know a chick that was on this show a few years back. I tried to watch it that season but I couldn't make it through a single episode. People who adopt dogs that have been brutalized to the extent that they become monsters are trying to do a good deed but people who actively seek out a pitbull puppy are overwhelmingly short, green-toothed trailer trash looking to compensate for their failings with an intimidating dog.
The prized bloodlines like Boudreau, Buckshot, or John Henry aren't prized because of looks or smarts or a sweet temperament. They're prized because they come from a line of bloodthirsty killers.

The bully breeds all get lumped together into one generic "pitbull" label that has a ton of misconceptions around it.
An actual american pitbull terrier isn't that big or strong, and doesn't have a locking jaw or a very powerful bite. The average female is around 60 pounds, male around 65-70. Rottweilers, mastiffs, etc are significantly larger and stronger.
I have a two year old american pitbull terrier that got her arse whipped by a 5 month old puppy we were fostering last month (not a pibtull). He was a big boy at 55 pounds already, but still an APBT isn't what most people picture them as. They aren't killing machines.

No comments on them bringing a dog in from Kuwait?

Cocaine was also the main ingredient in children's cough syrup in the early 1900s. I dont think we should look too closely to that era when it comes to judging how safe things are. Then add on 100+ years of humanity further breeding muscle mass and aggression into the pit bull line, and what you get is a type of dog that is unpredictable at best. Most of the people I know who have owned pit bulls dont buy one because they are smart, faithful dogs. They want something that looks threatening and dangerous and can "protect" them if they are attacked. Like a semi-intelligent shotgun with legs.
