I agree w/ that, but you said "Insurance IS a scam".
That's what I was rebutting.

Before Obamacare there were all kinds of insurance options available. I'm not sure how much it's decimated those options what with it's ridiculous requirements like requiring an insurance company to accept someone who is already sick, but what do you want to bet that back in the 90s there were literally dozens of options that all had different terms as well as special policies that specifically cover things like this?
What happened is that the guy and/or his parents just assumed that they had an insurance card, so anything that happened was covered. I can understand how that could happen, but it's still not "unfair."

Jackass came in a month later trying to get coverage after he ran a yellow light, hit someone and the person he hit was coming after him for damages. I wish I could say I felt bad for him but dude made his bed.
He should have put some money aside if he was gonna drive recklessly. You’re right, he’s a jackass.

Insurance IS a scam. If I had all the premiums I ever paid, I could buy a new truck, a new house a new heart, and a fricking robot body to house my brain in perpetuity and have money left over.
Then why don’t you save your money and self insure?

Yes, how foolish of them to have not foreseen that he would get MS and to have prenegotiated coverage of that with their insurer. Amateur shite by them.

As if you have the option to negotiate with insurers on the terms of a contract. “Uh yeah, I’m going to have to ask you to remove these clauses and exclusions before I sign”. Bone head.
Like I said above, there used to be choices. Until our nation of Karens (like yourself) started thinking that having an insurance policy means that everyone is entitled to have anything and everything they ever need or want, including "insurance coverage" for people who are already sick.

Not what i said. I've said all along that it's unfortunate and that I can understand how it could happen.
But those things do not = "unfair."
Boy, you are a dumbass.

Maybe insurance isn’t the way to go for healthcare

Finally an intelligent response.

I wonder how many of the same people who would be against some sort of government guaranteed healthcare system would also support a Trump EO making insurance companies cover preexisting conditions.

This is one reason health insurance will continue to sky rocket. If this is so great, why can’t I total my truck then go purchase a policy to replace it?
Really it’s a double edged sword. If you forego auto insurance it won’t affect your health. But if you forego health insurance because it’s out of your budget, you very well could die.
It’s a tough one understandably so, but I lean toward covering pre existing conditions but I also understand the financial implications of doing so. And you’re 100% correct with your totaling your truck analogy.

I did prior to Obamacare.
But that doesn’t apply to car insurance, home, flood, and all the other insurances one is required by law to purchase.

Almost 100%.

None of this answers why it needed to be included in this EO.
My guess is Trump is about to drive a spike through Obama Care and he doesn’t want to give Dems something to attack him on.

You really are egotistical arse. I love how you proclaim you know for a fact what my family did 22 years ago. I was dropped from the insurance bc I was diagnosed with MS. Plain and simple. I sat out of LSU for a year and a half and went back and finished.

That pretty much has to be why. Although this is another issue about which Trump has never really been very conservative about.

There's a reason people like Oprah have life insurance and long term care insurance. The most successful people in this world will tell you that insurance is a necessity

I don't think I'm the one who started the assery here. I think if you read backward you'll see when it started, and then if you look to the left you'll see your screen name.
And I didn't presume to tell anyone what you and your family did. I proclaimed (not for a fact, just an almost certainty) to guess what the assumption was.
And I was right, wasn't I?
And I don't know why you keep repeating that you got dropped for having MS. I've never claimed otherwise.
All I've said is that you were dropped because you had MS which was in accordance with the contract you agreed to.
If they had breeched the contract by doing so there would have been a lawsuit as part of this story.
