You gotta admit, it's a pretty fricked up system that bills one price to people that have insurance and
a different price to people that don't.
No, not really. Those differences in fees are based on contracts or the lack thereof.

Insurance IS a scam
Only to stupid people that don’t know how it works. Everybody pays a little together it’s enough to replace the person that has a loss. If that hasn’t been you then you’re lucky.
As for health insurance, the system is a mess but you can’t allow people to just buy in when they find out they have an expensive condition...it screws up the math and costs everyone else way more.

I mean, if the guy develops MS while on his parents insurance and then has to go off at 25 and then is unable to secure insurance, that’s not a fault of his. And yes, that is unfair.

That may be the case but it’s fricked up. Non elective procedures and care should cost what it costs. Period.

I hoped to never have to use the liability insurance I have for my company.
I got sued last year. Finally settled two months ago. It was worth every penny I've paid over the past 12 years.
Doesn’t sound like you’re talking about health insurance, car insurance, flood insurance, etc.
I just wish the law would let me decide how much risk I’m willing to take, instead of forcing me to purchase an item I don’t want and make me grab my ankles at every turn.

It's unfortunate for him, but every point you just posted is based on a contract that he and his parents agreed upon with the insurance company.
There's nothing unfair about something they agreed to.

Apples and oranges. That person was not uninsured in that case. The idea that you can do whatever you want, take any lifestyle risk, choose not to insure and then come back and have the insurer pay your way is not viable.

You are an idiot. I was 20 AND DID HAVE INSURANCE. But you see back then the insurance could drop you and they did. So I was dropped bc I was diagnosed with MS and then I was screwed. So please tell me about how I’m seeking an entitlement or it’s the same as vehicle insurance. Consequences of my choices. Pfft

Are you saying that medicine shouldn't be able to make a profit?

I don’t disagree there. Exceptions have to be made for certain situations.
Posted on 8/7/20 at 9:40 pm to wackatimesthree
No. I’m saying that charging one person $3 for a hamburger and another person $10 for the same hamburger is bullshite.

They increase rates for insurance company losing risked money invested by others to cover losses of the projected income for the company.

Call me what you want but I am not the one whining on a message board.
True or false: whatever the insurance company did or didn't do, you agreed to their terms.
Posted on 8/7/20 at 9:42 pm to wackatimesthree
The option is to agree to terms of go uninsured. That’s not really a choice.

Whining? The OP needed to be corrected. I’m stating facts. I’m sorry to ruffle your panties, Mr E Thug

There would have been less confusion if you would’ve told the whole story up front.

So a company that buys 10,000 hamburgers a month shouldn't be able to negotiate a bulk rate with the hamburger place?
I'm kind of in favor of companies being free to agree to mutually agreeable business terms. It's called freedom.
And the mistake you're making is thinking that the regular price for the burger is $3 and the $10 burger is the special price. It's the other way around.

True was the answer.
And that's also a fact.
And that's also a fact.

As if you have the option to negotiate with insurers on the terms of a contract. “Uh yeah, I’m going to have to ask you to remove these clauses and exclusions before I sign”. Bone head.
