Bad optics as murders and violence, breathtakingly corrupt governance becomes the new normal there. Why would anybody want to return to such a pit?

Gotham City is actually in New Jersey.

Before you ask, Metropolis is in Delaware.

I love visiting New York. I love the food, the history, and all the stuff to do.

I could not imagine living there. Maybe when I just graduated it would have been fun, but after 7-8 days I’m ready to gtf out of there for a while.

Been once, saw the main sights and have never wanted to set foot there again. Like one poster mentioned above, I have never been to a place with a worse stench.

NYC is at risk for another decade like the 1970s, with massive outward migration and severe blight. I love the place and I hope it doesn't come to that, but that's where I think it's headed if they don't wake the frick up.

Covid was bad enough, but the recent push for even more relaxed enforcement of the law will make the place much less desirable for normal Americans.

The wealth is leaving. Many will not come back. Office space will change dramatically. Companies are going to embrace the cost savings realized by remote work. Heck, it was happening before covid.

The very high rents and property values are cratering already. There is more bloodletting to come.

Eventually, the city and state will have to raise income and sales taxes on those left behind and that causes a rapid spiral downhill.
