Problem with Anderson Lower

I was gifted a custom built AR with a Anderson complete lower. Full disclosure I am a AR novice. I have a Ruger Mini 14 580 Ranch rifle that is bullet proof just not the most accurate.
So anyway it came with a Magpul Gen 2 magazine. So getting accustomed to it I loaded 30 rounds and tried to insert it but the it would not engage. If I took 10 rounds out down to 20 it would click into place. So I orders a couple of new Gen 3 mags from Brownells. Same problem. I read somewhere that the mags can open up a little but I don't think I've gotten 3 bad ones.
IS there something wrong with the lower? I know they are inexpensive ones but can it be fixed?
TIA

I usually keep 30rd mags downloaded 10%...so I only keep 27rds in them

29 or install full mag with the bolt locked back. opt two I wouldn't recommend for storage but that should be obvious.

So is this normal? They will not click in with 27 rounds.

If you lock the bolt back you won't have any issue.
Also, you can smack the shite out of the bottom of the mag and it should click.

Smack the shite out of the mag bottom, preferably with a downloaded mag

Now I'm showing my ignorance, what's a downloaded mag?

Maybe the magwell is out of spec. Pretty rare.
Could just try metal mags instead of pmags.

You should not be having those issues. I can take a fully loaded 30 round mag and slide it into my Noveske where it seats with no issue.

I have an Anderson and the same thing happened. Couldn't get the mag to engage. Thought it was a mag issue because I grabbed another one and it locked right in.
Issue was a 30rd mag at 30 rds. I popped one round out and it locked in, no issues.

It's when you don't load a mag to capacity. Usually to avoid the exact problem you're talking about. I keep my mags loaded to 28 rounds. If the first 28 don't get the job done, I need to be worried about how many magazines I already have loaded, not the two rounds I'm missing out of each of them.
