to signing. what say you? If he was close, he would be signed by now. I think he is asking for outlandish money, more than dorsey and gholston...

Those agents are going to make sure that high draft picks get their money, guys. I hope nobody's expecting the Saints to get some kind of a bargain here.

Wasn't Gholston a pick ahead of him? He should just take at few mill less than Gholston and get to camp.

BTW, who are his agents? Is it the Postons?

Ellis's agent is probably pulling that shite- You all wanted him so bad now pay him.The thing that is probably screwing it up is what Mayo signed for at no. 10. There is a huge dropoff from 6 to 10.They want to stay in the same range as 5 and 6 whereas Loomis is trying to start splitting the differences in which it should be.

Not as high as Dorsey, the Longs, or Gholston and they're signed.

it doesnt matter whose fault it is but I cant imagine that ellis or his agent is asking for anything crazy. I mean the contract should basically be set after Dorsey and Gholston signed. I really dont see what the problem is.

Maybe Ellis's agent doesn't realize that he is not the best DT in the draft.

This is why the NFL should have a system like the NBA and have salary levels for the top 15 picks.

I don't think the player's union would agree to that.

They might.

I can't imagine that most NFL QBs are happy that JR is one of the top 50 highest earning athletes in all of sports.

The top QB's in the league such as Manning and Brady do not want such a cap. Jamarcus Russell and Matt Ryan getting paid a shite ton of money gives them more fuel to demand more when its time for their next contract negotiation.

True, but it should be their performance on the field that gives them the fuel to demand more money, not the fact that they got paid a shite ton already.

I see it as arse backwards.. they should be paying the big contracts to the proven vets. instead of the unproven rookies.. it gives the rookies something to work for.

I agree with you on this but if the Player's Union wasn't fighting this, it would have already been implemented. This would be much more beneficial for the owners than for the players.

If some unproven rookie 1st round QB is getting paid $10M/yr, this gives a veteran QB such a Carson Palmer ammo to demand $15M/yr for his next contract. That's why Palmer will never have a problem with JR and MR getting that ridiculous amount of cash.
