More opt-outs: #Saints veteran TE Cole Wick and #Titans undrafted rookie OL Anthony McKinney are opting out of the 2020 season, per sources.
Worth noting: Undrafted rookies who take the voluntary opt-out aren’t eligible for the $150,000 salary advance.
I think Cole took the guaranteed payday over getting cut.

His older brother, John, would have played. I hear that guy is a badass.

He's been in the league for 5 years and "played" for 5 teams. Smart business move on his end.

Oh ok. We must have signed him last year at some point.

He turned weeks of physical pain and a guaranteed cut into a 150k payday...that is a win in anyone's book.

I wondered about these borderline guys now we know

Yeah, this may be his only paycheck whether he opted out or not.

I am officially opting out of the 2020 season...who do I need to contact to get my check?
Posted on 7/28/20 at 12:29 pm to Mrwhodat
Why so many Patriots? Brady's back-up must suuuuuuuuuck

Wick is practice squad at best
It allows him another year with Saints as they will hold his rights
Another chance to make it next year and since he won't have preseason to prove himself it was probably a pretty good move on his part
You may see a lot of fringe players opt out

He has been in the league for 4 years so he wasn’t eligible for practice squad and had no shot of making the team with our 3 tight ends locked in (Cook, Hill, Trautman). A smart move on his part to get out with some money.

You can add Dana Stubblefield to that list....
Edit: and before anyone calls me out..I know he no longer plays..

Pats have to be exploiting some kind of NFL loop hole we don't know about yet.
Belichick is the master of doing this.
Pats may end up with about 10 extra draft picks with all the opt outs.

We are a contender this year, nobody that expects to play is going to opt out l.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand why so many patriots players are taking advantage of this covid system and sitting out.
