How to fix Nascar

#1 get rid of the competition cautions, it makes the first 25 laps essentially worthless.
#2 Make races unique, cut down on the cookie cutter speedways. Create 4 “majors” where the point values are doubled, I’d suggest those 4 being Daytona, one of the Bristol races, Watkins Glenn, and Brickyard.
#3 Buy North Wilksborough, fix it up, and give it a race.
#4 Make the playoffs not terrible. I realize they want some kind of playoff system but to put the championship on the outcome of 1 race is idiotic.
#5 Figure out a way to give the drivers some personality.

Eliminate garage door pulls from every garage.

Same. He is my guy solely because he drives the M&M’s car and my dad worked at Mars for 35 years
But most people hate him

I watched it religiously when Gordon drove but I pretty much lost interest afterwards. Competition cautions used to only happen at races when practices were rained out. And it was a good thing. Do they have CCs at every race now?

Yes. I actually don’t hate it at the moment because the drivers get no practice or qualify time on the track due to covid (which is terrible in its own right) but in general the practice is awful.

Make the cars look more like street cars.
Get rid of the splitter.
Allow crews to use whatever spoiler angle they want.
Shorten the chase/playoff.
Allow a quarter or half inch leeway in specified areas relative to the template.
Real penalties for rough/dangerous driving.

COVID has brought me back into NASCAR. I hadn’t watched consistently in probably 15+ years. Last time I watched, i was a Carl Edwards and Dale Jarrett fan
I’ve become a Chase Elliott and Truex fan now. It wasn’t too tough learning the new drivers and still seeing some of the older guys like Jimmie Johnson still running. I hope they can keep it exciting. I feel like they’re doing a decent job right now. Could be better, but I wouldn’t know where to begin to make it that way.

Put the manufacturer’s in check and actually make the cars look like what’s on the sales floor. No cookie cutter bodies that look the same. Take the aerodynamics out the picture and make them drive a damn brick. Lower the horsepower and put the car in the hands of the driver. Next, take a play from Formula 1 and use only 2 transmissions and engine blocks all season. This would put the teams and engineers in check...
... and I agree about the personality bit. Kyle Busch, Clint Boyer and a few others are the only ones with a damn pulse.

Go back to their roots and focus their marketing solely on the South. They need to accept the fact that they're a niche sport that'll never really move the needle nationally.

Turn right every now and then.

Then you'll enjoy the upcoming Daytona road course. No practice; first time the drivers see it is when they race. Could be fun, could be a mess. Who knows?
