No 'Live PD' = disintegration of ratings for A&E; network lost half its viewers in a month

I have to admit. I had no idea what Live PD was before it was cancelled and had never seen 1 second of it. I'm just going out on a limb here... But I think a network pulling the plug on its biggest show for idiotic reasons.. Prolly not the smartest move.

GET WOKE, GO BROKE: A&E VIEWERSHIP PLUMMETS AFTER DROPPING ‘LIVE PD’
Another channel went woke. Translation: another channel moved out of the ratings business.
Last month, A&E bowed down to the mob and canceled Live PD. Since A&E’s strategic decision, its ratings have plummeted to embarrassing levels.
Per the Wall Street Journal, from June 11 to July 19, A&E’s average primetime viewership is down an alarming 49%. How could it get worse? Check the key demographics. Advertisers prioritize adults 18-49 and 25-54 — that’s where the money is made. Profitable areas A&E has declined by 55% and 53%, respectively.
Live PD averaged around 1.9 million viewers, which is enormous for a cable program in 2020.
Before the pressure from the woke folks online got to be too much, A&E was up 4% in primetime.
The cancelation is tanking the channel’s entire day. Since the pull, total daily viewership is down 36% year-over-year. Did the key demographics at least hold up this time? Of course not. They are down 42% in 18-49 and 46% in 25-54.
Woke never wins. It never will. Just don’t tell ESPN, HBO Max, NBA, NFL, MLB, and the New York Times

Good. I can’t think of anything else A&E offers that I would regularly tune in to watch. If they want to kill their best show, let them deal with the consequences.

Let's see how pandering works out for them.
I cannot believe businesses are willing to take a change on alienating customers as easily as they do in 2020.

It was their only live show and really their only original programming worth a damn. They had commercials for it and built A&E around it. I fail to see how this is surprising to anyone, but this whole site has turned into "frick the libs!" every given chance, on every board.

Crime & investigation network should pick it up

I've only seen a few episodes so maybe I'm off base, but shouldn't something like that be praised by the anti cop crowd? It's literally showing real time interactions between police and their suspects. What better what yo hold people accountable than to film everything they do.

I miss all of the cities that pulled out of The First 48 more than LIVE PD. LIVE PD was good the first season when it was actually live, but they started editing all of the hardcore stuff that happened. Made it into Cops with a couple of arseholes giving commentary.
New Orleans, Miami, Dallas, Houston, and Memphis all failed to renew contracts with First 48, saying the show made the cities and/or the minorities in them, look bad. Pretty sure Atlanta is the only major city still on it. Tulsa and Birmingham were also on it last season.
