Have you ever seen a map of the US before? How is a tsunami going to hit either of those cities?

Look into the Cascadia subduction zone of the Juan de Fuca plate. A 9.0+ quake in the subduction zone could send a tsunami 100ft high from Northern California to Vancouver BC

We don't know what would happen if the cascadia subduction zone has a quake that strong, but it's highly unlikely even that would cause a tsunami to hit either city. The Atlantic article about a tsunami wiping Seattle out was full of irrational fear mongering (which should surprise no one given the terrible COVID will kill us all bullshite they keep running).

need to call my parents. they are in Kenai (south of Anchorage) at their summer camp

EDIT: just noticed a text they sent at 1:55 Central time this morning. they did not feel anything where they are but warning Tsunami sirens were going off.
