How to handle mosquito problem

I live next to a lake/pond and my house is a good 30+ yards from the water's edge. Our patio is currently over-run by mosquitoes! I have no idea why this year is so much worse than the past (been here 6 years). Does anyone else have any tips on how to handle the problem? We don't even like to go out our back door anymore because we get so many mosquitoes in the house after opening the door. We do have a large number of spiders and dragonflies, but they haven't really even made a dent in the mosquito numbers this year. I've thought about introducing some geckos to the back porch, but i'm not sure where to get a large amount of them to tackle my problem. Anyway, any help would be very much appreciated.

My geckos/lizards and frogs are just getting fat while I suffer with hoards of mosquitoes! Interested in seeing the responses.

I'm a fan of the Spartan Mosquito Eradicator system... Spartan link
This is the 3rd summer I've used them and I haven't had the 1st bite at either of the 2 places I use them.

I have had some luck with these: Mr. T's Mosquito Granules
They have a pretty strong garlic smell but it supposedly messes with mosquitoes senses to detect warm-blooded animals.

I use the hose attachment sprayer. I’ve tried different brands and they all seem to work fine. The fogger is awesome.

I think your situation is good for the Spartan system. Off the top of my head I believe it is ideal to place them in a tree above a water source.
I use the thermocell patio shields. Turn them on 15-20 minutes before going outside and I don't feel a thing.

Having good success with dynatrap since i put it out in March. I didn't notice the spartans did anything previously. Not sure if the dynatrap would work as well with your open situation, but it's great in an enclosed yard

I believe there is some natural foliage that helps in repel them

You in EBR? Call mosquito abatement and they'll come spray for "free" (you paid taxes for it)

I used the spartan system and sprayed my yard with liquid talstar and it hasn’t even put a dent in the mosquitos. Also use the thermacell products
I have a brand new patio that’s useless because of those assholes

This 1 acre Dynatrap may work - hang it from a tree or get the stand.

Spray talstar nothing else works
This theory is based on research done at the university of Florida, they used like 50 gallons of garlic concentrate on a 3 acre section of land to show the results. All these products and sprays that cite garlic as working use like 1 oz per gallon on your property, it’s total bs

I have a buddy with the backpack mister, he said it works great for around 3 weeks before he needs to spray again.

Then you’ll have gecko poop everywhere like we do.

I have a dynatrap and it definitely catches bugs. I still spray talstar, use citronella, and tgermacell though.

We have a house in a new neighborhood that was built on what is basically reclaimed swamp. A very large section is still undeveloped, so we have definite mosquito issues. We do the following:
1) I sprayed the patio furniture cushions with Permethrin that's designed to spray on clothing.
2) We have a couple fans that we turn on to keep air moving waist down.
3) I turn on a couple Thermacell Radius 2.0 units a few minutes before going outside.
This pretty much keeps them at bay. I am considering a fogger to treat the backyard, as well but I am not convinced it will make a big difference. I might plant a couple citronella plants in pots, too.

Citronella really only gives off its smell when touched, so you need to brush up against it or water it regularly to be effective.
