Giannis is referring to the fact that due to conditions, having very limited time to ramp up, absolutely no home court advantage, etc, that this will be much more difficult to win and so much less about other factors besides basketball.

Do you agree?

I think he knows his team is a favorite and this is his best shot at a championship so far. He doesn’t want people to give this one less significance if he wins so he makes a statement like this

I’ve said all along more power to whichever team emerges as the champion. It’s a unique unprecedented circumstance.

The same great American MSBers who won’t watch because of a BLM logo on the court will be shouting “AsTeRiSK”at a champion of a league they allegedly didn’t watch but in sporting terms and amongst those competing, once the games start its still basketball. The first couple days will be weird but everyone will adapt.

I actually agree. These players keep their bodies on a 365 day routine and it’s all out of whack right now. Being in a neutral site bubble for 45+ days is way different than anything any of these guys have experienced at any point in their careers. Playing high stakes playoff games in a empty gym is going to be weird as frick too.

Yes

Forget about the lower seeded teams, they never win any way.

Looking at the top 2-3 seeds, they are losing the usual homecourt advantage.

Before even getting into all the other stuff, I think that alone makes this postseason tougher for #1 seeds than ever before.

I agree. Totally bizarre circumstances, and no team will have any type of home court advantage. No travel. No crowd to change momentum.

You just have to be mentally more focused, and the more talented, better functioning team. Benches to me will be significantly less of a factor. This is about the first 6 on your team.

I’m going to decide how I feel about it after I see the results.

If the Rockets win it all, I will definitely believe it was the toughest championship ever. If Giannis or LeBron wins, I will definitely downplay it.

If anyone wins it but the Lakers I will say its the toughest championship of all time.

If the Lakers win it it will forever have an * and be a joke.

It’s absolutely true, and not sure how anyone could argue otherwise really

Everyone is rested, and there is zero home court. True test of simply who is the better team

I do agree...for now.

The shitshow that could result from the virus could be much worse than normal injuries for teams, and it could put a huge damper on the entire thing, even if a champ is crowned. There's still that possibility.

I'm sure it was posted here but I saw a story how the FC Dallas entire team tested negative, and 4 days into their bubble in Orlando, they had something like 6 players test positive. Just 1 issue like that, and even if the NBA plays on, it'll have lost its luster big time IMO.

No, it doesn't make it any different because all of the teams are equally at disadvantage. The toughest championship would be if a team's stadium burned down and they were forced to play all of their games on the road or in a makeshift location.
