re: Anyone watching Netflix’s Unsolved Mysteries

Did anyone else have weird subtitles on the episode in France and the Episode in Massachusetts? We could not watch either one because it was too annoying/distracting to follow? To elaborate, they basically had a narrator describing every detail, change of scenery, wording on the screen, etc. The narration even “described” the red “N” at the beginning of these episodes.

Is that whole episode in French ?

The French one is completely subtitled.. maybe a few English speakers but I don’t recall... I prefer that over some heavily accented broken English

The 3rd episode wasn't really an unsolved mystery- it was just a glorified wanted poster

Well yea but that’s the mystery. If you watched many of the originals, sometimes the crime itself wasn’t unsolved but what happened to the suspect or a kidnapped child or some other unexplained “mystery” was the focus.. which leads me to another flaw within the show... the original shows usually had multiple cases within.. the cases with Netflix are overdone and could be wrapped up quicker allowing for more cases along with the addition of a host and the omni present creepy tone the original had throughout.

Watching the old series on Pluto, it just plays non-stop.
Man, that show takes you back to the 90's - not just the style and haircuts but they were interviewing some guy and on the TV behind him the OJ trial was playing...with Johnny Cochran pointing at something.

I think Rey had a psychotic episode and his suicide is similar to the movie, the game

He didn't fall at all in episode one
There's pretty much no way he could have fallen (or even jumped) from the top of the hotel and ended up that far out.
One thing that bothered me, though, is that if he did somehow jump and go through the roof, I would think there would be blood and/or clothes remnants on the roof and structure. No way he goes through a metal roof cleanly without leaving some evidence.

I thinknhe Could have jumped from the ledge though.

But the only access to that ledge was through a room in the hotel/condo. I was unclear from the episode whether those rooms were hotel rooms or private residences at the time. It's certainly a possibility. I do think the Porter guy was involved in some way, or at least knows a lot more to the story.
I have no clue on the 2nd episode. The husband was definitely creepy and weird, but he didn't strike me as someone that could kill someone in cold blood. Also, they really didn't investigate out his alibi in the episode, which I found odd. Almost like they intended to make him look guilty. Felt really bad for her son.

Or he could have climbed down from the roof.

He was a full on psycho. The investigating officer said it would have been very difficult for him to have been at those places and committed the crime, but he couldn’t be completely ruled out. Which makes it seem more like a plan than an alibi.

True. And jealousy is a very powerful emotion that can make otherwise sane people act very irrationally. The evidence of a pending divorce seemed very thin, so not sure I 100% buy it either. Also odd that guy from Mobile knew so many details of the case. Very odd case all the way around.
I will say that of the possible scenarios presented, the husband killing her is the most likely. Took the cash from the register to make it look like an armed robbery gone awry. I forget, did they say how she was killed? Guessing they didn't know for sure because only bones were found.

They certainly wanted you to think it was the husband, but they made it seem at one point like he had a pretty solid alibi... only to later say that it would have been possible but unlikely.
And I don't know that he would have agreed to do the show if he was completely guilty.
I guess the most likely thing is the serial killer guy who seemed to know some of the details and she definitely fit his MO.

My girlfriend's early 20s sister said that she started the series but grew frustrated with it because there was never any satisfying endings to the stories.
I thought she was trying to be funny but was being serious.

So apparently the mobile serial killer only knew what was readily available on the news.
Add in the fact that the body wasn’t found in the river but in the woods, and it seems unlikely it was that serial killer.

Some people like to brag.
Idk if he did it, but if I was Trying to cover up a murder I would Go get time stamps all over before and after.

Exactly - that to me sealed the deal that he was beaten to death on the lower roof, then a hole was dug and he was dropped into the conference room to make it look like a suicide - but they had to clean up the roof before they left.
