Mine are getting old. Really love them. What say you?

I just bought my first pair of nice headphones. I got the Sennheiser HD6XX (same as HD650) from Massdrop. They are coming in next week along with a new Schiit Magni&Modi dac amp.
Should be a significant upgrade over my gaming headset.

Hd58x or hd 6xx plus a schitt stack would be great.

The V600s are kinda crap IMO, too bassy and have a horrible midrange suckout. That said if you like the sound the MDR-7506 has a very similar sound not quite as bad in the low and mid-range but maybe a bit brighter.
You didn't mention budget or whether you absolutely want over the ear (I prefer on-ear) but I still think the best budget cans you can buy are the Grado SR60e. The world gets a lot wider when you get up to say $150.

If you're considering in-ear and want top-notch isolation, check out Etymotic ER4sr. They make an "xr" instead of "Sr" version which has a boosted bass response. I bought the xr blind on a recommendation while they were on sale and wish I had gone SR sometimes, but I've never actually listened to the SR. XR isn't bad by any means, but I would like a little less bass when listening to music.
They come with 2 sizes of triple flange tips and foam inserts if you prefer.
In January I took a small step down the path of crazy and had impressions made. The comfort is unreal, but the isolation isn't really any better than with the TF. They're truly wonderful for airplane rides and listening in loud spaces.
As far as other things, would you consider open cans or is closed a must? And is over-ear the only option, or would you wear on-ear?

Not sure your pricepoint, but I got me a pair of Sennheiser Momentum 3 about 2 months ago. The sound is fantastic, and they are quite comfortable. I believe they were in the $350 range
