Chinese Invasion or Asteroid. Pick one.

I've been trying to think of a crisis that would unify America the way 911 did, however temporary it was.
The only two scenarios I can think of are a Chinese Invasion, and by that I mean WWII style land invasion, or an impending asteroid impact, but only if the asteroid was visible, which would give us about 5 minutes of unity.
The woke would dismiss anything else. Then again they are Marxists so maybe the would welcome the Chinese army with open arms as liberators.
Anyone else have a scenario where the woke could wake the frick up?

The Chinese invasion has been happening for a while. There's a TON of land in California owned by Chinese investors.

Damn it's gonna be tough to get in a House Intel or Judiciary Committee hearing on Trump's lack of preparation for asteroid strike in 5 minutes. They'll give it a shot though, those patriots.

That will solve the problem for about 12 hours, then bread costs 50k a loaf, the entire world unloads any and all US assets before the become worthless and a week later, that loaf of bread costs 1 billion dollars.
In the early 90's I had a friend who maintained a Brazilian payroll system during it's hyper inflation. His stories would chill anyone's heart. And with the amount of money this country has printed in the last few months, don't be naive to think it can't happen here.

Chinese invasion? I don't know about that one. The Chinese are some slop. Their army is quantity over quality. And I doubt they have the money to support an invasion over the Pacific. Not to mention their cheap Made in China equipment wouldn't last. Think the unity might last longer with the asteroid than fighting the Chinese.
