Who is blowing this up into a massive argument?

During the Kaep shite, the POTUS himself got involved.

Did he ever even say he didn't want the anthem played, or is that just when you started getting bothered by the idea?

When it comes to football, the USA is the reason these players have an option other than rugby and soccer.
The game of basketball originate in the USA and the game of baseball as it is played today did as well.

Its going to happen. Just deal with it.
My problem will be if this just goes on and on.
You cannot get to a point where this becomes a tradition by black athletes. Where this has to be done every year. Like when will it end. The numbers already dont justify cops just killing innocent black men at some abnormal rate Then just get rid of the national anthem in these events

This kind of crap is why I'm on this board and not on O-Zone, as I was for years. I'm grateful for my Ohio State M.A. (1975), because it provided the foundation and the references I needed to enter MIT/Harvard ('87). It was a good education at the time from a proud school with a wonderful tradition. However, I grew up poor in a large family, and put myself in a position to get an education by joining the Navy, which does make me appreciate the flag whenever it's hoisted. Ohio State has a Diversity Office with 72 highly paid officials, non of whom could have gained entrance to the University before 1987, when the womanizing, drunken, lush, drooling, president Ed Jennings placed a fat, black, clueless, uncoordinated female on the cheer team because she complained she was cut for being black. The University has gone downhill ever since. The new president is a female married to her lesbian lover, who revolutionized education at NYU by bringing comfort donkeys onto campus to support students who were aggrieved by straight, white oppression (true story). Coach Day has stated he will kneel with the players during the national anthem. He's a weak, vacillating, puppet who is trying his best to pander to black athletes to get them on campus at the expense of university dignity or academic standards. Buh - buh. It's a race to the bottom within that conference. Michigan's diversity office has expanded to include 83 highly paid administrators.

Are you a season ticket holder? Do you financially support OSU in any other way?

No longer. I couldn't afford it. I was a President's Club member for a number of years, and thus had four season tickets, which I sold to friends in Columbus. The game environment is second to none on earth. However, it now takes an enormous contribution to get the option to buy two tickets to two home games, and for the few times I get to Columbus from Phoenix, it's just not worth the hassle. Every game is televised, and there are thousands of empty seats, but the trade - off by the AD to get higher dollar amounts in contributions is worth the empty seats.
I still get a constant barrage of phone calls from the Development Office, and I remind them that I will not give a cent until they disband the Diversity Office, and return to an admissions system which is color, race, and sexual orientation blind, predicated on standardized test scores.
I am a season ticket holder to NAVY!!!!!, and Blue and Gold member and have been for 20+ years, which means I get a block of ten tickets to Notre Dame in South Bend every other year, which I scalp. The ND game this year was originally scheduled to be played in Ireland. I just got an email from AD Gladchuck indicating that for the first time in history, ND will play in Annapolis, and that, due to social distancing, only top contributors will be able to buy tickets.

Say what you want about LSU and Bama but they both love their country.
LSU has become one of the worst knee bending universities in the country! It is sickening! People think this is all going to blow over but it won't! The heads of the universities are in on it! Why else would they even take a stand on a political issue if they had not already sworn allegiance to one side?

I'd like to see Tiger Stadium or BDS witness their own teams kneeling during the anthem and NOT boo.

Yep I’m done with the Saints and LSU. I hope it all comes crashing down due to lack of support and money.

Anyone who thinks the average SEC fan would just have a 'no big deal' type reaction to these sorts of in your face shenanigans at an actual football game is probably in for a rude awakening. They need to be careful with how far they want to open up Pandora's Box here.

You may as well prepare yourself mentally to deal with seeing people do things you don't agree with, because kneeling is going to be normal. I'm guessing at some point they just phase out the anthem.

I'm not so sure
TAMU is a former military school that's still steeped in military tradition and patriotism. Not only would there be boos, but quite possibly a significant walk-out from fans.

It ain't a controversy unless someone doesn't participate. What y'all should do is kneel with them...in HUGE numbers....they will stop doing it immediately. The only reason they do it is because it gets y'all all melty...nothing like seeing a conservative with big ol' crocodile tears running down their face. Turn it on 'em...take a knee with them....in 3 weeks no one will ever do it again...but continue to let them know it bothers you and you going to be bothered by it for a LONG time...

You’re fricking brain dead if you think they’ll stop with the kneeling. They’ll find something else to destroy.
