The article doesn’t state what’s racist about its past. Not that I’m disputing it.... apparently the brand goes back to 1890. but some context might be nice CNN.

After living in Upstate NY for a while I converted to real maple syrup, but I grew up with Aunt Jemima and have fond memories of her. Always envisioned her as a caring Mom that brought sweetness to my pancakes/waffles. Guess I was privileged.

I'm OK with this one. It's an easy concession, nobody gets hurt. Watching good men like Drew Brees and Mike Gundy grovel is upsetting to me.
