My wife and I are going to Lake Tahoe for a week in mid July. We enjoy going to good restaurants, hiking, scenic drives, wineries and doing the local stuff. What are some of the must do’s for Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area. We are flying in to Reno and driving over.
TIA
TIA

A hike up to Eagle Lake in the back of Emerald Bay is a must.

A quick hike on top of Cave Rock offers a very nice view. Easy climb at the end as well

I'll be there next all next week for an annual golf trip. I'll post what I see is open and running.

Eight year-old me would have enjoyed being at Lake Tahoe during the USC Song Girls’ visits-

Consider a drive out to Fallen Leaf Lake just south of Tahoe. Beautiful and secluded.
Run up to Truckee...neat little town. Book a fly fishing trip with a Matt Herron.
Someone mentioned Sunnyside Resort. Great spot for an outdoor meal on the lake.

Stayed at the Northstar resort for a wedding and it was kid friendly w/ a nice pool area. If your kids like outdoors there should be plenty to do - hiking, boating, fishing, etc.

Definitely do the hike up to Eagle Lake. It isn't too hard but the views and the lake at the top are excellent.
Also, check the water at Truckee and see if the rafting is worth it. If anything it is a beautiful trip down the river. You could also rent a boat on Lake Tahoe. I don't remember the cost but it is fun to cross the lake and go for a cold swim.
Lastly, good luck finding good food. I'm sure there are good spots but we never found one.

Assuming you are staying on North Shore, and if so: go rafting on the Truckee river if open; get a Wet Woody at Gar Woods in Carnelian Bay; Sunnyside Restaurant; head over to the village at Squaw Valley; take the ski lift from Northstar up to the Ritz and walk around and eat at any of the restaurants there; and then obviously drives in and around the lake and make sure you drop in from the 431 when going into Tahoe from Reno.

Check out Edgewood. Great food and facilities.

Just booked for August, so looking forward to that update.
Hit a wall just being home all the time and said frick it.
Will be bringing my then almost 2 year old. Got my hiking gear already.
Staying at the Hyatt Regency.
Yellowstone lodging was a bit choppy and I figured I'd want to wait to bring him when he's older. Zion is hot and I'm already hot here.
North Cascades NP almost got me, but this was easiest option with points etc.

BREAKING NEWS
Nevada governor now requiring masks to be worn in all indoor areas starting Friday morning.
We've already had to wear masks to sit at table games this week, but now will have to wear them everywhere in the casino and hotel.

Ya I figured that was going to happen. I plan on being outdoors most of the time when I leave my room.
How's everything been going?

Go to T’s mesquite rotisserie. Also check out Truckee. Cool little town with lots of shops and places to eat.
