Was just told they are closing 231 (memorial parkway) north of airport road due to protestors being bused in. Anyone know if this is true?

ETA:

Manager just told me the cops called and told them that they may shut it down so to send people home.

Also that it has to do with Battle saying he wouldn't remove some Confederate monument downtown.

Somebody tell them the charges were upgraded to Murder 2, and 3 others are being charged?

Rumors are flying downtown. Including rumors of protestors being bussed in from Birmingham. The protest went by my office on Monday. No issues that I saw. I was gone by the time the tear gas was used. City workers removed all of the rocks used in landscaping downtown and have placed barricades around the square. Lots of leo presence downtown as well.

That was my thought, but I work for a fairly large company so I figure they had something official to make the decision... but I havent seen anything.

Yeah. A family member got sent home as well. Madison County courthouse closed early.
No local news reporting anything at the moment.

Alabama governor has already said she will use the national guard and will not tolerate any rioting.

I read about the Madison County courthouse closing but haven't heard anything else. I'm just outside Huntsville and word is the local Walmarts removed the firearms.

Those bused in people better stay downtown. Hopefully Battle will do everything he can to keep them there. And Ivey better have the Guard on quick dial.

The organized protest isn't supposed to start until 5:00. Gotta give all those protesters time to get there after work today.

“peaceful” or not, when is it enough to stop interrupting, interfering, and destroying others lives?
