Thugs, an organised gang of professional robbers and murderers. The English language word thug traces its roots to the Hindi (ag), which means 'swindler' or 'deceiver'. Related words are the verb thugna ('to deceive'), from the Sanskrit (sthaga 'cunning, sly, fraudulent') and (sthagati, 'he conceals').[3] This term, describing the murder and robbery of travellers, was popular in the northern parts of the Indian subcontinent and particularly India.
Thugs are said to have travelled in groups across the Indian subcontinent.[4] There were numerous traditions about their origin. One recorded by D. F. McLeod traced it to some Muslim tribes formed from those who fled Delhi after murdering a physician. Another traced it to some great Muslim families who fled after murdering a favoured slave of Akbar.[5] These original Muslim Thugs spread Thuggee amongst Rajputs, Hindus, Lodhis and Ahirs.[6]

Thanks. That makes more sense since it came through the Brits. Just reading about Carthage before the Punic Wars. They had a great navy.

Besides Thugga was in North Africa and was populated by Mediterranean peoples. They were more akin to Greeks and Phoenicians.

Anyone who was around in the 90s knows they used to love being called Thugs when 2Pacs “Thug life” came out. It’s just another bullshite tool they use to deflect from what they’re doing. In 10 years they won’t wanna be called “savage” anymore but right now it’s a term of endearment.

OK, lemme splain it to ya. I was not serious about the OP. I'm reading Carthage history and I read about the city of Thugga.
But, this joke has explained one thing. Many of you do not bother reading 1 page of posts before posting the same thing for the 5th time. I shall no longer feel bad about Germans.
