Well, yeah. Regardless of whether all these protests stayed about a black man dying, that specific action is the exact precipitous event that sparked the protests, all locations....not merely L.A. and Minneapolis and D.C. Rather, nationwide. Which if I'm correct is unprecedented for us, mass violent protests from sea to shining sea. This has been and will continue to be a very, very costly event(s). And damned if it didn't come at the worst possible time.
Again, to use civil law parlance only because it describes the situation nicely....."But for" Chauvin's knee on Floyd's neck none of these protests would have occurred this past week.

You think in 1980 it was better to be a well educated black man than a well educated white man?
Were you alive in the 80s?
I was. First big business deal my old roommate made after graduation was a government minority set-aside contract. His parents were upper-upper middle class; he showed up to GT as a freshman with a brand new BMW. Just disadvantaged as all hell.
Now were their other circles his skin color would have hurt him? I don't doubt it, but Atlanta sure as hell didn't present many barriers to minorities who acted like I did in the 80s.

Just so you're clear, you firmly disagree with who I was replying to.

It predates that by alot

You've hinted at this a few times, but are you saying that racism(speaking traditionally here, where the race in power is the one doing the discriminating) in the United States does not exist? Or exists to such an extent that it is virtually invisible?
I also think CRT or critical race Theory is the dumbest motherfricking thing anyone has ever come up with.
Racism has nothing to do with power.

People get mad mad when injustices occur. Mr. George Floyd’s death was inexcusable. However, some minorities will hop on this train to express their frustrations with life in general.
I’m poor. blame the corporations or president trump.
I want a handout. Then don’t vote for trump or conservatives.
I’m poor and had six kids out of wedlock. Must be someone else’s fault. The government needs to take care of me cause I can’t find work.
The only way equality occurs if all people work hard and take personal responsibility for their families.
It can’t be done when jealousy occurs because of class inequality. Jealousy of your neighbor will always exist. There will be excuses why you fail until you honestly look at your own life and choose better.

Just so you're clear, there were circles where his skin color gave him an advantage. And some of those circles were funded with taxpayer money. So he had it easy in some places, tougher on others. Just like a white person.

Democrats have been in power in the major cities for decades yet we don't see the demanded changes that a group of our citizens who vote for them in roughly a 9:1 ratio keep demanding. Seems like they are being ignored and taken advantage of by the very people they have elected. Looks like an obvious place to start to enact changes in police behavior.

Have you ever heard of disadvantaged minority business loans and grants.
Not to mention tax breaks for corporations for a certain threshold of minorities in management positions.

I know it’s hard but we can’t lose hope bro. I’m a very cynical person but without hope what’s the point?

Pride and dignity of the African American families before they were destroyed by social services and welfare programs. A photo journal well worth seeing.

It’s down to people. People is the key word. And people by and large, as we’ve seen these last few days, weeks, and months, fricking suck.

What racist shithole did you live in in the 80s?
That wasn't and still isn't a problem where I live.
Now if you frick around and put a dr. Pepper wrap on your box Chevy and ride around blaring music all day on 24 inch rims without a job you are probably going to get pulled over and searched.
I live in the country man where you're just as likely to see a black man going fishing as you are going to the club. Do you really think cops are harassing them?

Hmmm... I would say, if George hadn't tried to pass counterfeit currency, none of this would have happened.
The cop was wrong with his actions and will be punished accordingly but he didn't initiate the situation. George did. Same with Michael Brown and others. I take it that you're one of those that would prefer police just let them do their [illegal] thing.

I was and yes.
Affirmative action was alive and well. That is the only "institutionalized racism" around since 1980.
Fortunately not a lot of black people cannot do what I do so I have never been directly affected but it still pisses me off because it has fricked over people I know.

Whites get killed by cops just like blacks do but that doesn't get nearly as much attention as it should because most people respect the police for putting their lives on the line every day.
