I think my lacrosse snake boots are done. Got two seasons out of them. Tried to fix several leaks with 3M 5200 but one hole was so bad the 3M came through to the inside and wore them today for the first time since the repair and it caused a bad blister mid ankle.
I hunt the basin area a good bit and walk a lot. A hiking type boot would be ideal but I’d stay wet.
Checking to see if there are any better options than lacrosse? Are any lace up boots waterproof and worth a look?

Do you need a snake bootS? I switched from lacrosse knee boots to Le Chameau, knee high rubber boots. I have the low end model, they should be a little under $200. Mine have lasted 4+ years. The rubber is soft and doesn’t get hard and crack like the Lacrosse. They are also much more Comfortable than the Lacrosse

Appreciate it, never heard of them, I will take a look.
I can use snake chaps.

You don’t need snake boots, I have stepped on dozens of them, including rattle snakes and moccasins. None have tried to bite me, ever

Surely this is a joke.
I don’t wear snake boots, but I would never tell a man he doesn’t need them. I definitely wouldn’t tell someone not to watch their feet while walking in the woods/swamp.

Geez baw, you’ve stepped on dozens of snakes?
I haven’t stepped on any to my knowledge.
I try to watch where I step and like the added peace of mind of some protection. I get in some remote areas by myself but would wear them anyway. Sometimes I can’t see where I step.
Chaps or snake boots are probably a moot point for me because I would die from a heart attack anyway.

I agree.
A moccasin or copperhead will not bite through 5mm Muck boots. Don't be careless and step on top of snakes. Snake boots are a gimmick. I have hunted swamp a LOT.

I’m probably an outlier but I started wearing snake chaps this past turkey season and it’ was so much more comfortable.

They well might be, but I feel much better walking through pamlettos and making other movements that require a blind step with them.
And you don't have to step on them to strike. Google "find the snake" and tell me you see every single one in less time than they can tag you.

Big fan of Chippewa.

I wear snake boots for my piece of mind. I don’t care about the snakes.
I have a pair of Irish Setter snake boots. Waterproofing has held up for two seasons and they are really comfortable.

I would get snake boots if I hunted Texas or other areas that have thick briar patches loaded with rattlesnakes.

OP, check out Turtle Skins gaiters - I'm pondering them. I've got some Rattlers chaps and they will kill a man (hot and heavy) and pull his pants down.

Not a good thing in snake country. Reptile Deliverance? Have worn LaCrosse Burleys most of my adult life, and have yet to get bitten. Unfortunately, I am not too sure about the new Chinese version.

My buddy has some and they’re awesome, very light but expensive.
For all the leather snake boot recs, I need some waterproof boots.
ETA I’m realizing chippawa make some waterproof boots that look amazing.
