Found on Saline River in Arkansas.

found him floating.
I didn't see any wounds or trauma tho. I ride the river every day and its the first time i seen him. Seen a soft shell that was twice the size as any ive ever seen a couple weeks ago. It was real cool.

How for down are you on the saline.

I thought the larger alligator snappers were out of range for arky which means that's a world record regular snapper or alligator snappers live hundreds of miles outside their official range.

Damn, that’s crazy! I’d probably poop a little if I saw that thing swim under my boat.

Probably 80-90 years old. May have just died of old age..

That’s awesome. Why is the shell discolored?
Posted on 5/24/20 at 6:45 pm to crimsonsaint
The scutes have fallen off of it. Been dead a while

It was taken from Facebook.
I'm on the banks of the white river.

It’s an alligator snapping turtle. You can tell by the ridges on it’s shell. Commons will have them when they real small, but lose them as they get older.

Nah...pretty sure that’s an ankylosaurus.

Those are the kind I wouldn't kill, just release. They got to that size/age, let them be.

Ok that is freaking monster, it could snap off a freaking head instead of just a hand

I stepped on one once when I was wading, I thought it was a big rock until it started moving. I'm sure it wasn't as big as that one was, but it was pretty big. I felt lucky it didn't decide to bite my foot off.
