Laptop for a student at LSU

Anyone have any suggestions for a laptop for a student heading to LSU? She is leaning towards a Mac since that is all she had a home minus her PC during High School. I think she plans to do some Graphic Design during her time there.

If doing anything with design I’d recommend sticking with a Mac. They’ve recently released a new line of MacBook Pros which are a big improvement.
MacBook Air will have less bells and whistles but is fine for most purposes and is lighter.

What's your budget? You might want to consider the 16inch MacPro for graphic work

I would recommend waiting till closer to July and august for the back to school deals. You can generally save about 200-300 on MacBook pros and generally get things like headphones bundled in.

there is a good chance her specific major college has a recommendation for what the minimum requirements for a computer is and some do recommend a PC over a Mac for software specific reasons but do not rule out Macs. look on the lsu.edu website

Its crazy that so many people just automatically jump to Mac as the go to for graphic design. I was a professional graphic designer for almost 13 years and never once used a Mac. Windows based machines are perfectly fine. I cant imagine using a 13" screen for graphic design.
