quote:BOTW is amazing in climbing mountains. In Skyrim I found myself going off the beaten path a lot and pissed I couldn't climb.
Like I said in your botw thread, be prepared to get frustrated when Geralt can't climb even the smallest ledge
Also, he dies from like 6ft falls.
But I loved the game almost as much as BOTW. It's the best game I've ever played.

Sorry to jump in...
Does one need to play the first two Witcher’s in order to fully appreciate Witcher 3? Can I start there ?

Nope. I didnt.
It probably did help that I had already watched the Netflix show beforehand tho, that way I was already introduced to the characters and the world/lore.

It adds a lot of flavor and inside jokes to the game to have played them, simply because the game has a lot of callbacks to the first two games (and the books too), but it's not necessary. You might just want to read a synopsis about what went down as a background to the game.

Thanks . Will do. I’ve heard good things so this thread intrigued me.
I’ve been planning to watch the first season and will probably get around to it this week. Hopefully (presumably) that gets me more in the mood too and gives me some character background to start the game up. Thanks

W3, imo, is more difficult than Skyrim. But it's also much more immersive. You make split second decisions in W3 that quite literally change the entire story line of the game, or moreso the last couple hours of the main quest line.
The DLCs, Blood & Wine and Hearts of Stone, are the best DLC contents you will ever have played thus far- particularly Hearts of Stone, though the new map region in Blood & Wine is absolutely breathtaking.
I remember being jealous when you first said you were finally getting into Skyrim, CA. Remembering how it was when I learned my first shout and listened to guards complaining about taking an arrow to the knee. But I'm even more jealous that you're about to start W3 for the first time.
Personal tip for when you do start W3... You will get pretty angry at how you're treated by certain NPCs at certain times. You will want to dismember them, and more often than not you will have the option to fight them and do so... in the long run, you're better off avoiding battle when you have the option. Sometimes you try to walk away and have to fight anyway, but usually avoiding conflicts will make a future path a little easier.

That would actually be very useful for playing the game, would give you the majority of the background knowledge you'd need for the world in general.

quote:Thanks so much for this! Do you know how long it took me to easily kill and run with the thieves in Skyrim? LOL. I was vanilla, then saw to kill everyone. If guards were walking a prisoner down the street I didn't save the prisoner. Then I started killing everyone, even guards if needed. lol.

W3 is a huge game, so no surprise you'll need a SD card as some Switch games require you to download most of it anyways.
But if you don't have one yet, you'll eventually need one for the switch as you get more games. Larger the memory size the better (obviously), and just Google SD card to see who has them on sale around you.

Do people need to buy extra memory for PS and other gaming venue systems?
I think this is so cheap of Nintendo.
Then if they require a new system for BOTW2 I will be pissed.

Can anyone briefly shed light on physical vs digital copy ? Either one more recommended?
I swore I would never buy physical copies of games ever again, but this one is making me think twice. Is physical copy maybe more worthwhile given memory issues and the space needed? TIA

I am not sure but I don't think physical copy vs. digital helps with memory. I have a new Link game in my new system I popped out. It was the only physical copy I got. It is a tiny microchip.
I just got the new memory card LINK and it is a 4 hour download for Witcher 3. No biggie but I hope the game is worth it.
I presume the download time would be the same had I not bought Witcher 3 in digital at the estore.
I will not buy a new system for BOTW2. I bought a switch only a few months ago and was not aware of the memory card issue.

Well they released BOTW for the Switch and Wii U, and same with Twilight Princess (GameCube and Wii) so that probably won't be a problem.

I'm just getting into blood and wine on a NG+ playthrough. Playing as a total a-hole and it's a damned fun way to play it after you've already seen the whole "good version" of the endings.
