Best Bridge in Louisiana

John James Audubon Bridge - cable stayed bridge which was completed and opened in 2011 crossing the Mississippi River between Pointe Coupee and West Feliciana parishes.
I've driven over a whole lotta bridges in Louisiana and let me tell you this girl is a fricking beaut! Seeing the sun beam down on those golden cables as the bridge rises up to carry you over the tranquil and powerful Mississippi River is a sign from the universe granting you a safe journey.
The bridge benefits from minimal surrounding development and low usage, providing a tranquil river setting and a bridge that still looks almost new. I prefer the eastbound crossing, as the bridge leads over the river and across a flood plain before leading you back to the developed world. There is some sort of industrial plant on the westbound side that somewhat spoils the majesty coming that direction.
Eastbound Crossing
Westbound Crossing
I highly recommend a day trip for the family to drive over and bask in her glory.

Read the OP, its all in there - but its really something you should experience first hand IMO.

That is a beautiful bridge.

No TulaneLSU, no care.
I'm sorry that I'm the one that has to tell you this but a list of one, a single post, and no mention of Mother is simply not going to cut it on the OT.
Bring your A game next time you tread on TulaneLSU's turf Sally.

Typical Louisiana. Let’s build a bridge for a random road and leave the I-10 bridges in Lake Charles, Baton Rouge, etc from the era of OK Allen and Huey/Earl the same.

I'm not trying to mimic those posts and this isn't a recurring thing, I just wanted to let everyone know. Its a little out of the way and many probably have not gotten to experience it first hand. I was driving today after the rain had just let up with the sun peaking through the clouds and lighting up her golden cables - it was god damn majestic.
Plus, no disrespect to TulaneLSU, but I prefer to pick the single best example to highlight it. No need to muddle the affair outside of maybe a few honorable mentions if you plan on doing lists. Just my personal preference of course.

TulaneLSU not gonna like that

Right across the River is River Bend Nuclear station owned by Entergy. You can barely see it going east bound. But the reason you don’t was that government wanted it hidden so as not to scare people. That’s why there are multiple small water coolers rather than the one big tower synonymous with nuclear plants.

Trashy I-10 drivers wouldn't appreciate a bridge like that.

Ya occasionally you can see a little smoke from the stacks, but usually nothing that intrudes on the view. Even then it is very minimal.

This is what replaced the ferry? Shows how long it’s been since I crossed the river in that area.

A TulaneLSU list of favorite bridges would be interesting, considering his strong distaste of bridges. It would be like asking Jesus “what is your favorite sin?”

In the winter when the leaves are gone, you can see the protective dome around the reactor.

Oh I see, I travel around the state and don't see it on daily commutes - once every couple months probably.
